What’s even better than drinking wine? How about sipping it while perched atop a hill with incredible city views while watching the sunset? And to make it even better, this particular hill features one of Los Angeles’ most iconic architectural gems. Barnsdall Fridays returns to Barnsdall Art Park for the tenth year in a row, with evening tastings of boutique artisinal wines and music from KCRW DJs.
The series launches on May 25 with a Q&A featuring Jonathan Gold and James Beard winner Chef Daniel Humm of Make It Nice, a hospitality group that includes the newly opened NoMad Los Angeles. The NoMad Truck will be on-site for the event, with other chefs to be announced.
Silverlake Wine is providing the superior selection of wines. You are welcome to bring a picnic (but no outside alcohol will be permitted).
May 25 tasting tickets are $45, or $60 if you’d like to also tour Frank Lloyd Wright’s Hollyhock House, the magnificent, recently restored Mayan Revival home built almost a century ago for oil heiress Aline Barnsdall.
After the May 25 opening night, Barnsdall Fridays will happen every Friday evening from June 1 to August 31. They often sell out, so buying tickets in advance is recommended. See the link below for additional info.
These wine events are the primary way that Barndsall Park raises funds for maintaining this beautiful public space, so keep in mind that the money you spend on your ticket is going to a great cause!
