Take a walk, a bike ride, spin, or dance through Los Angeles this summer, just make sure to leave your car at home! CicLAvia, an LA-based nonprofit that opens streets to car-less adventure in LA county, returns to DTLA on Oct. 16.
As one of the largest events of its kind in the United States and a pioneer in the global streets movement, CicLAvia encourages vibrant public spaces, active transportation, connecting people in the community, and good health through car-free streets.
Over the past six years, CicLAvia has created a public park experience for Los Angelenos by temporarily closing its streets to cars and traffic. Since it’s start in 2010, participants have traversed 110 miles all over Los Angeles. Because of it’s efforts, CicLAvia has influenced local and regional transportation policies related to pedestrians and bikes and improved air quality.
The upccoming edition of CicLAvia event will cover a 5.75 mile route through the heart of Los Angeles.
Check out the route map for your best entry plan. Keep in mind, this is not a race, but an experience. Performers and artists are encouraged to showcase their skills right on the streets too.
Please be sure to also review these safety tips for CicLAvia for an understanding of the rules of the open road.
