Do the holidays ever make you feel nostalgic for more innocent times? If so, step back into early Los Angeles during Heritage Square Museum’s 22nd Annual Lamplight Celebration Tour on Dec. 3 & 4.
Hosts will guide you through time, from an 1892 Victorian Thanksgiving where you can play a popular parlor game, to mingling and playing games with budding film industry moguls at a 1915 Christmas celebration, then finally joining in a popular period dance at a 1945 New Year’s Eve party.
If you’ve never been to Heritage Square Museum, ‘tis the season to check it out! Heritage Square is an open-air, living history museum that tells the story of the development of Los Angeles, and is located just north of downtown.
The theme of this year’s event is the Bunker Hill of an earlier time. The holiday tours begin at 4 p.m. with a new tour starting every 20 minutes. Tours cost $30 per adult, $15 for children, and you need to book your tickets in advance as tickets sell out every year.
Watch out—the tour is not suitable for children under 6 years old, or for folks who may have mobility issues. The walk itself is up and down, uneven, and dimly lit.
Don’t forget the mistletoe!
