Museum of Latin American Art hosts Long Beach Zine Fest April 24

Fanzine, magazine, or zine – whatever you call it this fest is all about celebrating self-published works.

The 2nd annual Long Beach Zine Fest comes to the Museum of Latin American Art on Sunday, April 24 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The day of free festivities features local musicians including Avi Buffalo, Bootleg Orchestra and DJ Dennis Owens, how-to workshops, a new reading room, and a free bike valet.

Panelists include Gustavo Arellano of Ask a Mexican,  Griselda Suarez of the Arts Council for Long Beach, Davy Rothbart of FOUND Magazine, Ziba Perez Zehdar of Long Beach Public Library, and So Cal zine fest organizers, including Long Beach Zine Fest and L.A. Zine Fest. 

The panelists times are as follows:

  • Ziba Perez Zehdar “Cuba Libro: A Librarian in Havana”: 11:30 a.m. – noon
  • Gustavo Arellano & Griselda Suarez In Conversation: 2 -3 p.m.
  • Davy Rothbart: “Get Your Sh*t Out There”: 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.
  • “The State of the Zine in Southern California”: 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
