Look ma, no pants!
On Sunday, Jan. 8, 2016 get ready for the 16th annual incarnation of a world-wide no-pants subway day originally conceived by the creators of Improv Everywhere in New York City.
Here in Los Angeles the folks at GuerilLA (formerly GLA Improv) the will be helping organize the local version of the event for the 9th consecutive year.
For 2017 the briefing spots for all pants-less passengers will be broken out a bit differently than in years past. Instead of meeting up at various stations around the city then converging to Union Station, this year the”agents” (in other words, the riders) will be divided into six separate groups based on last name. Each group will have a preassigned meeting spot and ride captain at Union Station. The ride captains will brief the agents before departing on the Expo Line to the group’s final destination, Tongva Park in Downtown Santa Monica.
Once everyone gets to Tongva Park (by around 3:30 p.m.) the organizers will say a few choice words, help take a group photo, and then lead the merry band to an after party spot (TBD).
Here are a couple key points the organizers want to highlight:
- You NEED to wear underwear. This is a no-pants ride, not a nude ride. You should be fully clothed except for the pants part.
- Total trip cost will be $7.00 if you already have a TAP card (required), or $8.00 if you need to get a new TAP card.
- “Agents” are encouraged to act as nonchalant as possible throughout their ride. Draw as little attention to yourself as possible.
- You’re also recommended to bring a spare set of pants in a pack of some sort as a “just in case” measure should the need arise to re-pant.

Oh, and enjoy!
