Queen Mary’s ScotsFestival & International Highland Games XXV returns February 17-18 to celebrate 25 years of the annual event with an array of authentic Scottish activities, athletics, dancing, entertainment, drinks and cuisine.
Construction on the Queen Mary began 88 years ago in the seaside town of Clydeback, Scotland, and today the Queen Mary’s legacy is undeniable. Learn about the Art Deco ship’s heritage during a two-day festival featuring international athletes, new pop-up Greyfriar’s Pub, the new Birds of Prey Show, Border Collie sheep-herding, firing demonstrations, performances by the Royal Scots Greys Calvary, whiskey tasting, live entertainment and more.
There will be professional and amateur competitions in darts, piping, drumming, massed bands, Highland dancing, and Highland athletics. The main event is the Scottish Highland Games, a precursor to today’s Olympic Games, which was organized to test the strength, skill and technique of ancient warriors during face-offs.
Festivities begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at 6 p.m. on each day. Tickets are on sale now and start at $25 online (ages 12+) and $12 online (ages 4-11) for one-day general admission. VIP tickets start at $45 online and includes VIP entry, access to shaded VIP Lounge, one drink ticket, and access to Ceilihd, a post-event featuring traditional folk music, dancing, and pub-style lounges. Check for discounted tickets up to 50% off from Goldstar!
