Starting on Dec. 1 The Contenders film series comes to The Hammer Museum with a run of 10 amazing films, all set to screen over the first half of December.

The selection of features has been carefully curated by the The Museum of Modern Art to meet the criteria of being “influential, innovative films made in the last 12 months that they believe will stand the test of time.” In a nutshell, lots of Oscar and Golden Globe hopefuls in the bunch (and probably a few destined for non-award winning cult classic status).

Many of the screenings will include special Q&A’s with a principal from the cast or crew, including Tom Ford, director of Nocturnal Animals, Dev Patel, star of Lion, and Wernor Herzog, director of Into the Inferno.

The price for event is $12 general admission and $8 for museum members.

Complete schedule for all events is listed below.
