Astronomy On Tap – M FA > Astronomy on Tap returns on Monday with a pair of scientific talks (helped along by trivia, live music, and beer) at Dog Haus Biergarten in Pasadena. For the March event, Caltech PhD Candidate Nadine Hassan presents a talk on “How Dust Shapes the Stars.” Caltech postdoctoral fellow Dr. Edward Nathan will then discuss “Black Holes: Dining with the Stars.” The event is free and open to all ages. Noir City -> Experience the allure of classic film noir at Noir City Hollywood 2024, presented by the American Cinematheque. Delve into the shadows and mysteries of the silver screen with a curated selection of timeless noir masterpieces. From hard-boiled detectives to femme fatales, immerse yourself in the gripping narratives and atmospheric cinematography that define this iconic genre. Happening Monday through Sunday. friend or flame – M > On Wednesday, friend or flame is back at DTLA’s Good Clean Fun for a night of conversation, cocktails, and connections. Whether one is on the lookout for a flirty new friend or a scorching hot flame, the singles speed dating event invites individuals to spark some sort of connection. This round of friend or flame is tailored for straight folks. The speed dating segment of the evening will last approximately 45 minutes with mingling and a dance party to follow. Dodgers Home Opener – TP > Though the Dodgers technically kicked off the MLB season last week in Korea, they’ll host this home opener this Thursday with an afternoon matchup against the Cardinals. If you don’t have tickets to the game, you can swing by multiple area breweries which are hosting opening day parties (including Angel City Brewery, Common Space, and Benny Boy) or you could swing over to Ovation Hollywood to catch the game in the center courtyard. Plus, Grand Central Market rvendors will be offering 10% off for any guests sporting Dodger gear.
Can a Football Stadium be a Black History Museum -> This Thursday, Zócalo Public Square hosts a discussion at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood titled “Can a Football Stadium be a Black History Museum?” Moderated by Khalil Kinsey, curator of the Kinsey African American Art & History Collection, panelists include Maurice Harris, Jacques McClendon, and aja monet. After the discussion, there’s a reception with complimentary snacks and beverages. Attendees can also explore the Kinsey Collection located at SoFi Stadium with docents from 8 to 9 p.m. More info here.
Zombie Joe’s F*CKED UP EASTER EGG HUNT -> Zombie Joe’s F*CKED UP EASTER EGG HUNT returns this week for a creepy egg hunt where the participants can’t be entirely sure who’s actually the hunting. Not for children this experience is for adults who like scary, weird and totally strange situations. The special limited performance will only take place this Thursday through Sunday. Parks After Dark – FA > Parks After Dark is back for the spring season, offering free activities across 34 LA County Parks. Families and friends are welcome to enjoy outdoor movie nights every Thursday and live music performances by local bands every Saturday, alongside a range of complimentary activities for all ages. Beyonce playback party at Desert 5 Spot -> This Friday, Desert 5 Spot invites guests to join them for a Beyoncé playback party in honor of her debut country music album release. The event will take place during the venue’s weekly Frontier Fridays, offering two for $6 tacos, $6 beer & wine, and $9 cocktails from 6 to 7 p.m. Then from 9 to 10 p.m., attendees can enjoy the album once more, nestled between line dancing and the bar’s usual live music performances. Throughout the night, resident DJs will seamlessly weave the album’s tracks into their sets.
Spring Fling Big Bunny at the L.A. Zoo -> The Los Angeles Zoo celebrates easter with a “Spring Fling Big Bunny” event from Friday through Easter Sunday. Enjoy Easter-themed activities meet the Easter Bunny, participate in egg hunts, and enjoy special animal presentations throughout the zoo. This special event is included with admission. Eyes on the Road Exhibit Opening Reception -> On Friday the Petersen Automotive Museum hosts an opening reception for “Eyes on the Road.” The exhibit features automotive related artworks by Ed Ruscha, Vik Muniz, Andy Warhol, David Hockney, Mr. Brainwash, Roger Kuntz, Harry Chandler, and many others. Stand Up for Pups -> On Friday, Wallis Annenberg PetSpace and Can’t Even Comedy present Stand Up for Pups, a dog-friendly comedy show to support animal rescue. Hosted by Caitlin Benson the evening includes a DJ set and a meet-and-greet with adoptable pups. Tickets start at $25. More info here.
Carla’s Fresh Market Launches Dine In Cafe-> On April 3, Carla’s Fresh Market in Highland Park will introduce a new dine-in cafe. Founder Ariell Ilunga has collaborated with chef and chocolate maker Julia Ziegler-Haynes to craft a menu focused on locally-sourced seasonal ingredients, house-made condiments bursting with flavor, and freshly baked bread. The menu showcases a variety of sandwiches and salads that emphasize the use of fresh produce. Notable items include the Three Bean Ribollita Salad, featuring tomato vinaigrette, torn lacinato kale, and toasted garlicky breadcrumbs; the Broccolini + Friends sandwich, consisting of crispy broccolini dressed in clementine agrodolce with Bungkus Bagus chili + shallot sambal atop fresh ricotta, served on Bub and Grandma’s Air focaccia; and the Turkey Lurkey, a roasted turkey ciabatta sandwich with mango pickle aioli and fresh arugula. Sandwich prices range from $15 to $18, while salads are available in pint-sized portions for $11 each. The cafe’s menu is offered from 11 a.m. until sold out, Wednesday through Monday.
asterid by Ray Garcia’s Birthday Menu -> This Tuesday, asterid by Ray Garcia in Downtown Los Angeles celebrates its second anniversary with a special four-course menu inspired by the diverse tapestry of the city. Each course pays homage to a unique neighborhood, featuring dishes like avocado toast topped with Dungeness crab and a miso black cod creation with bok choy and cara caras. The meal concludes with a serving of tres leches cake, a beloved dessert from Chef Garcia’s renowned establishments, BS Taqueria and Broken Spanish. To complement the culinary offerings, Beverage Director Chris Chernock, a longtime collaborator with Chef Garcia, presents a wine pairing showcasing California wines alongside signature asterid cocktails, including the popular Tequila & Passionfruit, which was a hit during the restaurant’s inaugural year. This special anniversary menu will be available until April 27 for $98 per person.
McConnell’s and Hook & Press Donuts Ice Cream Collab -> McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams has recently unveiled its latest collaboration with the Santa Barbara gourmet donut operation, Hook + Press. The new Blueberries & Lemon Glazed Donuts Ice Cream combines old-fashioned, scratch-baked lemon-glazed donuts from Hook & Press with blueberry-infused Central Coast milk and cream, featuring swirls of tangy-sweet lemon glaze. This limited-time flavor is available online and in McConnell’s scoop shops until sold out. Additionally, McConnell’s has reintroduced their beloved Pistachio & Almond Biscotti flavor, which is available both online and in select local scoop shops.
Pitfire Pizza Echo Park Game-Day Special -> During every Dodger game, the newly opened Pitfire Pizza in Echo Park will offer the Echo Park Game-Day Special. This special includes any pizza and any pint (with a selection of 40 on tap!) for $20. Additionally, there’s the 7th Inning Stretch Special, offering $10 Wings in Buffalo, Garlic Ginger, or vegan-friendly Buffalo Cauliflower options. Throughout the game day, TVs scattered throughout the restaurant will broadcast the game, and given its close proximity to Dodger Stadium, it serves as an excellent pit stop before heading to the game.

Corgi Beach Day (April 6) -> Corgis, costumes, cuteness. It’ll be there at the annual Corgi Beach Day, taking place at Huntington Dog Beach. Ivy Station Night Market Spring Fling (April 12) -> Ivy Station’s monthly Friday night market turns into a “spring fling” for April featuring over 25 local vendors mixed with food trucks, craft beer, games, and music. Runs 5 to 10 p.m.

49th Annual Bunka Sai Festival (April 20-21) -> The 49th Annual Bunka Sai Festival comes to Torrance with a weekend of cultural activities that include performances, demos, tea ceremony and calligraphy lessons. More info here.
Grand Park Easy Mornings (April 20 & 27) -> Grand Park’s Easy Mornings programming returns this April with a pair of Saturday events featuring relaxing, family-friendly activities focused on deepening relationships with self, community, and the park. Bob Baker Day (April 21) -> The 10th annual Bob Baker Day brings a festive carnival atmosphere to Los Angeles State Historic Park, including music, games, and puppets from the Bob Baker Marionette Theater. FOLAR Earth Day Extravangza (April 21) -> Experience an Earth Day Extravaganza hosted by Friends of the Los Angeles River (FoLAR). This event offers a day packed with environmental themed festivities and community engagement along the Los Angeles River. CicLAvia (April 21 & May 19) L.A.’s signature open streets event series offers two date on the spring calendar, including a 5.75-mile course along Venice Blvd on April 21 pls a “mini” 2.25 course in Wilmington on May 19. More info here.
Very Special Arts Festival Community Day (April 27) -> The Music Center’s Very Special Arts Festival is an annual free, inclusive event celebrating the artistic achievements of students with all abilities. The festival features student and professional performances, visual and performing arts workshops and a student art exhibit created around a theme that is introduced to the students each year. The 14th Eclectic Music Festival & Art Crawl (April 27) -> The South Pasadena festival returns with dozens of diverse musical acts on stages and intimate venues all across town. An array of other activities are also on the dock including open galleries, beer and wine gardens, family friendly things to do, food trucks, an Artisans’ Alley marketplace and a South Pas Vintage Village. Jackalope Pasadena (April 27-28) -> Jackalope brings its artisan market back to Central Park in Old Pasadena for a two-day event showcasing over 200 local vendors selling indie goods, clothing, jewelry, home decor, housewares, art, photography, and food. Active Streets (April 28) -> Formerly 626 Golden Streets the open streets initiative returns with a route from Mission street in South Pasadena to Mission Drive in San Gabriel, allowing bicyclists and pedestrians to navigate the roads car-free. There will be hubs featuring live entertainment, food and special activities along the way. Free to attend. Runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. More info here.
Fiesta Broadway (April 28) -> Four blocks of Broadway (between 1st and 5th) come alive for a Cinco de Mayo celebration featuring multiple concert stages, vendor booths, games, sports activities and a play area for kids. Runs 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. More info here.
Yes, KAWAII is Art -EXPRESS YOURSELF- at Japan House LA (starting May 2) -> The newest exhibition at Japan House LA debuts on May 2, offering an thoughtful look at the origins of the colorful kawaii style, its development and its profound cultural significance, transcending its perception as a fashion look or trend. Jazz at LACMA (starting May 3) -> The Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s annual Friday Night Jazz series returns on May 3, offering free weekly concerts at Smidt Welcome Plaza through November. Museums of the Arroyo Day (May 5) -> Five museums and historic homes along the Arroyo Seco offer free admission for the annual Museums of The Arroyo Day, this Sunday. Participants include The Gamble House, Heritage Square, the L.A. Police Museum, the Lummis Home, and the Pasadena Museum of History. Summer of Salsa at LA Plaza (starting May 10) LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes brings back their annual salsa series starting on May 10 with a performance by Rumbankete. Concerts continue monthly through September, and all are free to attend. More info here.
Community & Unity People’s Kite Festival (May 11) Head to Los Angeles State Historic Park on for the 4th Annual Community & Unity People’s Kite Festival. Hosted by Clockshop, expect demos from kite masters, special workshops, curated snacks for purchase, and tons of colorful kites sailing through the sky. Free to attend, and donations welcome. Vegan Street Fair Los Angeles – M > Vegan Street Fair Los Angeles returns to North Hollywood Friday through Sunday with a massive array of vegan-friendly vendors. Fourth Fridays on 4th St in Long Beach – FA TP > Retro Row in Long Beach comes alive on the fourth Friday of the month with special pop-ups, live performances, and extended store hours from shops on 4th St between Temple and Cherry. The event runs 6 to 9 p.m. More info here.
Night Dive at AoP -> The Aquarium of the Pacific’s signature adults-only, after-hours series returns this Friday with food trucks, cash bars, DJs throughout the Aquarium galleries, art, and a live band performing on the stage in front of the Honda Blue Cavern. Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater at The Music Center – M > The Music Center presents the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater for a seven-performance engagement at The Music Center’s Dorothy Chandler Pavilion from March 20 to 24, 2024. The SoCal Museums Free-For-All – FA TP > SoCal Museums annual free admission day takes place this Saturday and will see some thirty museums participating in the annual promo, including the Getty Center, LACMA, La Brea Tar Pits Museum, The GRAMMY Museum, and more. Richard Neutra: Travel Drawings -> This Saturday, Louis Stern Fine Arts in West Hollywood present Richard Neutra: Travel Drawings. Best known as an iconic architect of the mid-century modern movement, the drawings on display in this exhibition were made during the his numerous travels throughout the 1950s and 1960s. Sunday Tastings with Guest Winemakers at Esters -> This month Esters, the women-owned wine shop and bar in Santa Monica is hosting female winemakers for various tastings to showcase their portfolios. The next tasting is scheduled for March 23 from 3 to 6 p.m., featuring a happy hour takeover by Antonella Manuli from La Maliosa. Antonella produces dynamic, regeneratively-grown, natural wines in Tuscany. She’ll be pouring her wines by the glass and sharing stories during this special Saturday tasting event.
Holi Themed Brunch at Baar Baar Los Angeles -> Baar Baar Los Angeles, a modern Indian restaurant, invites guests to celebrate Holi, the festival of colors, with a specialty brunch on Sunday from 11 am to 2:30 pm. Sunday Supper at Shirley Brasserie Inside Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel -> Shirley Brasserie, situated within the iconic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, offers a family-style Sunday Supper every week from 5 to 10:30 pm. Priced at $55 per person, guests can enjoy a three-course meal curated by Chef de Cuisine Craig Hopson. The meal commences with a salad of shaved vegetables with Herbes de Provence vinaigrette, and then the national dish of France – Pot-au-Feu as the main course.
