Here’s Where to See Free Shakespeare in the Park in L.A. for Summer 2017

“Fair is free, and free is fair.”

Isn’t that from Macbeth? Well it ought to be! Especially when considering how lovely it is that our region offers so many free performances of The Bard’s work.

As in years past we’ve compiled a schedule of all of the free/donation-based Shakespeare you can find in the Los Angeles area during the summer. And please keep in mind that key phrase… donation-based.

While admission is free for all who may arrive we strongly encourage you to leave a few dollars to help support the cause, and keep the festivals going strong for years to come.

Check out the listings below. Pick a date. Enjoy the show!

Shakespeare in the Park

For the 8th year in a row the Independent Shakespeare Co. will offer free / donation-based performances at the Old Zoo in Griffith Park starting on the final Saturday of June. Last year the company performed for an estimated 48,000 guests over the course of its summer program, and this year promises to be as good as ever.

ISC’s production of The Two Gentlemen of Verona will be performed July 29-30, and then every Wednesday through Sunday from August 2 – September 3.

All performances for both runs begin at 7:00 p.m. on the nights indicated. Arriving early to get prime seating is recommended. Be sure to read up on how to plan your evening before attending.
