5 Things You Gotta Have on Your Radar This Weekend (According to The Influencers of L.A.) 7-24-15

Sometimes when you’re figuring out what to do with your weekend, what you really need is just a little help from your friends.

To that end, we asked a few of our fellow L.A. bloggers, podcasters, and social media brethren to help us out with their top picks for this weekend, and then we combined those choices with one pick from both Christina and I.

The result is a quick list of some of the absolutely best stuff happening in Los Angeles over the next couple days.

Hope it helps you find something awesome to do.

Have a great weekend!

1. Chinatown Summer Nights

Picked by Jonathan Bilski, creator of Things to do in LA.

Jonathan says:

“Another night to explore Chinatown during the summer surrounded by music and food trucks. Visit the orient in our own backyard with a party vibe. The Summer Nights Program has only one more event after this and it’s not until next month, so head downtown for this free summer celebration.”

2. A Grand Performance in DTLA

Picked by Gerren Kelsaw, creator of the This Is The City Podcast.

Gerren says:

“Kamasi Washtington is fresh off his work playing sax, as well as arranging and conducting the string section on Kendrick Lamar’s critically acclaimed “To pimp a butterfly.” This weekend he comes to Grand Performances with two bands in tow, to provide a unique juxtaposition of 1965 and 1992’s socio-political conversations through the music of the times.”

Here is the official Facebook event for tomorrow’s concert.

3. A Cool New Yoga Spot in Hollywood

Picked by Gwen Paja, aka The LA Girl.

Gwen says:

Celebrate the opening of Wanderlust Hollywood, a new yoga studio which also houses a cafe and a creative space! This weekend, there will be yoga and musical performances, free parking, and the cafe will be serving seasonal food and fresh juice. Time to get your namaste on!”

The opening celebration will take place both Saturday and Sunday.

4. Wildfox’s Warehouse Sale in DTLA

Picked by Christina Minh, co-founder of We Like L.A.

“The insanely popular and playful L.A. label is having a two-day warehouse sale at the Cooper Design Space. Happening Friday from 10:00am to 6:00pm and Saturday from 10:00am to 5:00pm. The sale will feature Wildfox’s retro apparel, denim, accessories, lingerie, swimwear, sunnies, kids, and White Label. Prices range from $10 to $50.”

Cooper Design Space is located at 860 S Los Angeles St (on Mezzanine 3) Los Angeles, CA 90014

5. Party With the Stars at Griffith Observatory

Picked by Brian Champlin, co-founder of We Like L.A.

(That’s me, and yup, I’m going to quote myself, hah!)

“The Observatory’s monthly night celebrating the stars above is a great chance to try out a variety of telescopes, check out visible objects of our solar system (Sun, Moon, and visible planets), and perhaps best of all, provide a forum to exchange ideas and talk to knowledgeable amateur astronomers. Oh, and it’s FREE!”
