January 19, 2015 by Brian Champlin

Well today is the day that we honor Martin Luther King Jr, and what better way to celebrate Dr. King’s memory than with the discovery of a 55-minute recording of a speech delivered by the late civil rights leader on April 27, 1965 on the campus of UCLA.

According to a report by PBS, the footage was recovered by archivist Derek Bolin and Tim Groeling, chair of the UCLA Department of Communication Studies. The audio was digitized and added on the Comm. Department’s official YouTube channel this past Thursday.
