So There’s Going to Be a Massive Picnic in Grand Park Today and It’s FREE to Go Hangout

Looking for some last minute weekend plans? In celebration of upcoming ‘National Picnic Day’ (yup, that’s a thing) Grand Park will be hosting Picnic DTLA on Saturday, and it’s totally free to attend.

The event is set to go off from 12pm-4pm today (that’s April 18th), and among the scheduled activities include a mobile, wood fired oven where you can bake your own bread, Butter Aerobics from 1pm-2pm and a fermentation station where you can make your own kimchi.

There will also be plenty of food trucks, DJ-spun music, and plenty of fun for the whole family.

Funky, colorful, and otherwise unique picnic spreads are heartily encouraged.

Here’s are some quick do’s and don’t for your packing list for the picnic, per the event organizers:

DO… bring handheld umbrellas, blankets, sunscreen, coolers, and of course plenty of smiling faces.

DON’T… pack large sun umbrellas, alcohol (all bags subject to inspection), or any large objects/tents that may obscure others’ views or require spikes into the ground.

Picnic DTLA is located on the Event Lawn, nearest City Hall on Spring St. Between First and Temple. Grand Park’s playground and dog run located in this area will be open for play. Other amenities including the splash pad, Little Libraries and Grand Park’s Walking Paths are available for use. For additional information,. check out the Grand Park website.
