Spring training is in air and opening day is almost upon us, which means it’s the perfect time to head over to the Skirball Cultural Center.
Let me explain.
Coming this April the Skirball Cultural Center is highlighting their newest exhibition by kicking off a summer-long movie series with America’s pastime on center stage. It’s called Take Me Out to the Movies and here’s how it works:
Four family friendly classic baseball films screened over the course of 5 months, starting with The Sandlot on April 8 and concluding with a A League of Their Own on September 16.
Before each screening guests will enjoy DJ’d music, ballpark themed snacks like cracker jacks and hot dogs, plus full access to the Skirball galleries to explore Chasing Dreams, a celebration of baseball that highlights the role of the game’s biggest cultural influencers through a showcase of over 130 artifacts, original films, and interactive experiences.
Visitors can also check out the The Unauthorized History of Baseball in 100-Odd Paintings: The Art of Ben Sakoguchi.
Both baseball-themed exhibitions open on April 7.
Tickets for Take Me Out to the Movies start at $10 for GA, $8 for Skirball members and $6 for full-time students and children 2–12.
For the night of each event the museum will re-open for entry at 6:30pm, and then screenings will start between 8:30pm to 9:00pm (time will be dependent on sunset)
Opening night on April 8 will include a host of festive activities to keep folks entertained including oversized games, music, a photo booth, plus cocktails and light fare available for purchase.
