An Oyster Free-For-All, Free Gourmet Coffee & other Tasty Tuesday News Bites

I love free food. You love free food. Everyone loves free food. Did I mention this week’s round-up is about free food?

On Sunday L&E Oyster Bar celebrates their 5th year anniversary with an epic paella and oyster free-for-all. And don’t forget this Wednesday westside newcomer Espresso Cielo will give away free coffee all day in honor of National Gourmet Coffee Day.

Keep in mind several special parties (not free but still awesome!) are happening this week including a rare gin gathering at MiniBar plus a huge wine extravaganza at Union Station.

L&E Oyster Bar’s five-year anniversary celebrates with free paella and oysters!

L&E Oyster Bar is celebrating five years of being one of the most beloved spots in Silver Lake with a paella party this Sunday, Jan. 22. Starting at 5 p.m. Chef Spencer Bezaire will be serving paella, on the house, until it’s gone. Since L&E shucks up some of the best oysters in town the generous team will also serve free oysters, until they run out! If you can’t make it this weekend, L&E will keep the party going from Jan. 23 to 27 in L&E’s upstairs bar with free oysters from 5 p.m. till they’re gone.

Calling all wine lovers, this is your week

Uncorked: L.A. comes to Union Station on Saturday Jan. 21 for the biggest wine experience in the city. Come get your fill of more than 150 wines, a champagne bar, and gourmet food trucks. Drink responsibly.

Carlitos Gardel Presents an Argentine Wine Pairing Menu

Continuing their 20th anniversary celebrations, Carlitos Gardel presents El Dia Que Me Quieras, a wine pairing menu for two served every Thursday now till the end of April. The menu features five courses of the restaurant’s most popular items paired with vintage Argentine wine selected by Sommelier Max Bozoghlians. The Prix Fixe menu is set at $300 for two.

Free Coffee in Santa Monica

Espresso Cielo will celebrate the grand opening of their second location at 2nd Street Santa Monica, CA 90401 with free small drip coffees all day this Wednesday, Jan. 18. Just mention “National Gourmet Coffee Day” to redeem.

American Tea Room Re-Opens its Flagship Location in Beverly Hills

SoCal tea purveyor American Tea Room has been under renovation since 2015, now they’re back and better than ever with a luxury retail store showcasing over 200 of the brand’s rare and premium teas from around the world. Freshly brewed teas, artisanal coffee and sweet and savory snacks will also be available on site.

MiniBar’s Rare Gin Tasting Event

MiniBar is partnering with Australian distillery Four Pillars Gin and K&L Wines to host a rare gin tasting on Thursday, Jan. 19. The event will feature a welcome cocktail and complimentary tastings of exclusive gins yet-to-be-released in the states, such as chardonnay solera aged gin and bloody shiraz gin accompanied by unique snack pairings. Admission cost $10 a person and can be purchased online here.

Midori Matcha in Little Tokyo serves up some seriously good ceremonial matcha a.k.a. the good stuff. I was lucky enough to try the matcha filled beignet (new item!), eclair, matcha latte and soft serve!
