The Super Bowl might have come and gone, but cravings for chicken wings persist year-round. Los Angeles Magazine recently put out a list of their favorite spots, and I think it’s worth checking out.

On the events front: This weekend brings an Open Shabbat dinner at The Skirball, Speed Dating at Carmela Ice Cream, a Broken Hearts Circus at Angel City Brewery and the annual Cookie Con, which has moved down to the Anaheim Convention Center.

Wolfgang Puck Celebrates Chinese New Year

The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles will celebrate the Year of the Dog at WP24 by Wolfgang Puck on Friday, February 23 with a night market-inspired feast to celebrate Chinese New Year. Guests can enjoy dazzling panoramic views of the city while dining on signature menu items such as squid ink shrimp steamed dumplings, a roasted Peking duck garnished with golden pineapple, a specialty cocktail themed for the Year of the Dog and a mochi waffle dessert. The restaurant will also host live dragon dancers fully decked out in traditional Chinese costume in honor of the New Year. The experience cost $56 per person. Love Bug Dinner

There’s a Love Bug Dinner happening on February 13 at Cafe Demitasse in Santa Monica where bugs are the main course and every course! For $55 guests will enjoy a seven course meal that includes Termite Potato Poppers, Mealworm Pasta and more.

Guests will enjoy a three course meal that includes Marinated Vermilion Snapper paired with Bad Hombre Mexican Lager and Oak Barrel Smoked Berkshire Pork Belly paired with a Long Grind Cappuccino Stout. L.A. native Lesley Telléz will head to LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes to share her insights and dishes from her cookbook, Eat Mexico: Recipes from Mexico City’s Streets, Markets and Fondas this Thursday.

Visit the Skirball Cultural Center this Friday for Open Shabbat, a communal meal, held outdoors, featuring a farm-fresh vegetarian menu. This reimagined version of a Jewish ritual is meant to be a meaningful life practice for all.

Carmela Ice Cream is hosting two Speed Dating events where $15 gets you a scoop of ice cream and mingling with local singles. On Friday the event will be held at the 3rd location  and Saturdays event will take place in the Woodland Hills location.

Angel City Brewery’s festival for the lovelorn, the Broken Hearts Circus, returns to Downtown Los Angeles for a lively pre-Valentine’s Day bash. Enjoy games from Two Bit Circus, a stilt walker, circus performances from TRIBE, artisan vendors, food and live music. It’s free to attend.
