Today’s rundown starts with the dreaded Tax Day, but I’m here with the thinnest of silver linings: $1 drinks from a bevy of local bars, available today only.

By week’s end we move on to celebrating another American tradition: 4/20. Now that cannabis is legal some local bars and restaurants aim to help Angelenos celebrate with CBD cocktails and food inspired by the munchies. Check the rundown of specials below.

Today is officially tax day and that means we’ve all have given a big chunk of our bank account to Uncle Sam. But all is not lost, every year local establisments roll out special deals like $1 Old Fashioned and $5 beer flights for Angelenos to sip their pain away. 4/20 Events in Los Angeles

4/20 is this Friday and we’ve rounded up a quick list of ways you can indulge.

Hopdoddy Burger Bar will offer a burger to satisfy your munchies. It’s called the High Roller burger and it’s made with a taco-seasoned beef patty, pepperoni, mozzarella, Flamin’ Hot Cheeto ketchup and cool ranch fries between two hemp seed buns. Diners also get a spoonful of cookie dough on the side. The burger special will only be available this Friday, April 20 and is priced at $11.

SameSide will team up with cannabis Chef Holden Jagger of Altered Plates for a night of CBD infused mocktails, small plates and advocating for the decriminalization of cannabis-related convictions. Tickets cost $42 per person.

Van Leeuwen’s Franklin Village ice cream shop will offer a limited-edition CBD Fudge Mini Sundae ($6) made with CBD-infused fudge. Vegan options are also available on that day.

Brack Shop will have Lagunitas’ “420 Ale” on tap, and some 4/20 schwag for guests. The bar will also offer up a Stoner Challenge – a feast of eight sliders, 16 atomic wings, Heap o’ fries and one donut. Your bill will be taken care of if you finish the $50 feast in under 42 minutes.

Find a CBD Slushie at Checker Hall in Highland Park on 4/20. It’s made with cannabidiol and Humboldt hemp vodka.

Los Angeles Magazine wants you to help them decide What’s the Best Burger Joint in L.A. To get things started food editor Garrett Snyder curated a strong list of 16 contenders that include Cassell’s Hamburgers, Apple Pan, Petit Trois, Burgerlords and more. The four weeklong voting rounds will end on May 14 and L.A. Mag will announce the winner during the Burgers Bourbon + Beer event on May 23 at the Victorian in Santa Monica.

Get a taste of what South Pasadena has to offer during the 7th Annual Taste of South Pasadena. The evening will include a wine tasting portion, and a restaurant crawl with unlimited food.

Wednesday April 18th, 2018

Angel City Brewery will host the 4th Annual Beers & Queers  a fun evening that includes a screening of 2004 comedy SAVED! a panel discussion with writer/director Brian Dannelly and more.

Bad Housekeeping at Good Housekeeping in Highland Park pops up every Wednesday now through May 30. On these nights you’ll find libations inspired by bad recipes of the past including a ‘glazed ham’ and cherry cordials cocktail.

Thursday April 19th, 2018

The Taste of the Valley, San Fernando’s largest wine tasting and food festival returns this Thursday with over 120 wineries, 45 restaurants and more. DISCOUNTED (via Goldstar)

The Pub at Golden Road will host Goat Yoga on The Lawn this Thursday where guests join in a one hour yoga session, sip on a GR beer after and meet and greet the yogi goats.

Friday April 20th, 2018

The Magic Bus Experience comes to the Reef DTLA April 20-22 for an experience outside the norm. Cosmic Brewery in Torrance will host a Vegan Earth Day Weekend Fair April 21-22 featuring food and apparel vendors and a doggie kissing booth.

There’s a Depeche Brunch happening at Resident this Saturday. Described as “A daytime all Depeche Mode eating, drinking, and dancing experience” the event will include food by KTCHN La (all entrées are $10), DM themed cocktails, an all DM DJ playlist and more.

Innovation Brew Works celebrates their three year anniversary with a party featuring IBW, Guest and home brewer beer tastings, live performances, food and games.

Sunday April 22nd, 2018

Tocaya Organica Playa Vista will be hosting an open Green Day LA event on Earth Day to benefit Our Backyard Homes. Enjoy live music, a silent auction, raffle prizes, food and drinks to support the youth of LA’s homeless community. There’s a suggested donation of $20 to attend and all proceeds will go to support Our Backyard Homes, a non-profit organization creating low-footprint micro-homes for homeless college students.

On Sunday, Son of a Gun will collaborate with chef Gabriela Camara and Tequila Casa Dragones for a one day only brunch featuring a three-course menu and dessert, as well as curated tequila pairings with Casa Dragones Joven, a small-batch, 100% blue agave sipping tequila. The menu includes tuna with Leche de Tigre, mussel tamal and more. The menu cost $75 per person; and the tequila pairing is a supplemental $45.

Monday April 23rd, 2018

By way of Miami Beach, James Beard Award Semifinalist Chef Michael Pirolo, will bring his famed Italian sandwich pop-up, Pirolo’s Panino to Los Angeles. Pirolo’s Panino will open on Tuesday, April 24 at 7461 Melrose Avenue. To celebrate the opening day, they’ll host a meatball sub toast with local officials and give away free paninos to the first 100 guests who follow their Instagram @pirolos.

A Future of Women Breakfast with chef Santa Caress Benitez will take place at Light Lab with a panel discussion about food entrepreneurship. The panel includes  Daina Trout the CEO + co-founder of Health-Ade Kombucha, Natasha Case the CEO + co-founder of Coolhaus and more. Tickets to the breakfast cost $35 per person.
