Something I ate this week…

Petrossian is known for their caviar driven approach but last week I dined on a seasonal pre-fixe menu that demonstrated a range of delicious eats I was wholly not expecting.

My meal began with a Buckwheat Cannelloni wrapped with perfectly cooked asparagus and French ham. The wrap was accompanied by an egg yolk surrounded in sturgeon cream cleverly made to look like egg whites. Simple and refreshing.

The main entree featured a Duck Breast lightly glazed with honey, topped with pistachios and turnips. Finding a well prepared duck in Los Angeles is like scoring a free parking spot in DTLA at rush hour, but I was pleased to see a perfectly cooked breast on my plate, pink in the center with a nice fatty layer of skin to keep the meat tender.

Overall, I was appreciative of the minimalistic approach, especially in the context of a local food scene where sometimes outrageous origin stories about what’s on your plate overshadow the actual eating.

Currently Petrossian is offering a special three course dinner for the month of May. The meal cost $65 a person with an option to add a wine pairing for an additional $35.
