New Opening Alert

A new modern Mexican restaurant and speakeasy has landed in Silver Lake focused on seafood, roasted meat, Mexican wine and a robust mezcal portfolio. Tintorera, a brainchild of Chef Maycoll Calderón and partner Walter Meyenberg, is billed as a love letter to Mexico City. Both have made a name for themselves in Mexico with their critically acclaimed restaurant Huset and a members-only cocktail bar called Hanky Panky. Tinotera’s menu offers tostadas, crudos, aguachile, roasted red snapper and arroz con pollo accompanied by fresh corn tortillas. Mexico City bartender David Mora helms both the restaurant and speakeasy bars crafting cocktails inspired by Acapulco’s golden era and introducing L.A. guest to lesser known agave distillates including raicilla, bacanora, and sotol. For now the restaurant is open Monday through Sunday from 5 to 11 p.m. with the speakeasy open Monday through Saturday from 5 to 1 a.m.
