1. The Moth storytelling event returns to Los Globos in Los Angeles with LA StorySLAM: DEALBREAKERS.
2. The Indie Beauty Expo is coming to DTLA’s California Market Center from Jan. 17 through 19. This one-of-a-kind expo allows shoppers to discover the newest and freshest under-the-radar beauty brands. From cosmetics and skin needs to hair and nail care, a vast variety of brands will be represented.
3. dineL.A. Restaurant Week continues through Jan. 27. More than just a week, dineL.A. offers food-lovers two straight weeks to taste, explore, and enjoy various prix-fixe menus from top restaurants across Los Angeles. 4. The Queen Mary is issuing a special Locals’ Annual Pass to make it easier than ever for SoCal residents to visit the world-famous cruise liner all year round. 5. Redondo Beach Restaurant Week continues through 27, and will feature 14 eateries from the beach city’s burgeoning food scene. All participating restaurants will offer either specially priced prix-fixe lunches and/or dinners, or other Restaurant Week-only specials.
6. L.A. Urban Adventures invites you to relive Old Hollywood by taking a stroll down the Hollywood Walk of Fame while stopping to hear stories about historic spots, sample drinks made famous during the Golden Age and try out local street food. DISCOUNTED (via Goldstar)
7. The LA Opera takes over Union Stations Waiting Room for a first look at Mozart’s Comedic Opera “The Abduction from the Seraglio” the experiential pop-up event is free to attend and will feature live jazz, 20’s era dancers, and LA Opera singers performing pieces from the upcoming show. FREE

9. Hammer Museum presents Election Postmortem a discussion/reflection on the 2016 election moderated by journalist, documentary filmmaker, and KPFK 90.7 FM radio host, Ian S. 10. Food Truck Night at The California Heritage Museum in Santa Monica.
11. The Lincoln presents “For the Record,” a weekly series where guests bring in their own vinyl for a unique DJ set from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. This week’s theme is “Japanese Pop”. FREE

13. FLIXatFIG returns to the TASTE Food Hall at FIG@7th with a free screening of Silver Linings Playbook starring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper. FREE
14. The Broad Stage and Sotheby’s Institute of Art kicks off their brand-new series of art talks this Wednesday with five of California’s major art legends. Titled Artists Talks: LA Legends, this series explores the living legacy of Los Angeles’ art scene via enlightening conversations with influential artists. The series opens with Larry Bell, Billy Al Bengston, Robert Irwin, Ed Moses, and Ed Ruscha.
15. Join Los Angeles magazine at the A+D Museum in DTLA for their 4th annual Best New Restaurants Celebration as they highlight some of their favorite local restaurants, chefs, and culinary masters.
16. This week Glendale Arts POPUP! Intro to Music series continues with a intro to guitar workshop at Brand Library. Open to the public the event is free, but the organizers are encouraging a $5 donation from each participant.
17. The Odyssey Theatre Ensemble will host free previews for the Koan Unit’s production of “BECKETT 5” five rarely seen, short plays by Samuel Beckett from Jan. 18 to 20 at 8 p.m. The public must call in advance to reserve a seat, and mention WE LIKE LA for this freebie 😉
18. The Lincoln Center Theater production of The King and I comes to the Hollywood Pantages. Happening Wednesday through Friday. DISCOUNTED (via Goldstar)
19. The Pasadena Museum of California Art is currently having a special on admission through Goldstar where tickets are complementary with a $3 service fee (tickets usually cost $7 a person.) See current exhibits by Llyod Hamrol, Joan Perlman and a 90 painting show on California coast culture titled: In the Land of Sunshine. 20. 2017’s Riot LA Comedy Festival runs from Jan. 19-22. The lineup of comedic all-stars for this year includes Ali Wong, Felipe Esparza, the return of Dr. Katz, plus a live chat with Mel Brooks followed by a screening of Blazing Saddles. 24. Rally to Save Roe will commemorate the 44th anniversary of the historic 1973 Supreme Court Case, Roe vs. Wade. Hosted by NCJW/LA and 24+ co-sponsoring organizations including Planned Parenthood Los Angeles (PPLA) and the City of West Hollywood. The rally will feature speakers, performers and demonstrations and will also provide advocacy training.
25. SIP+MINGLE 1920’s Prohibition Party at Pattern Bar. The party will include an exclusive exhibit by photographer Yoshi Hashimoto, who documented the final days of the Lexington Hotel in Chicago, home to Al Capone. Guest are encouraged to dress up and complimentary gourmet bites will be served at the beginning of the party. Ticket cost $10 a person.
26. January 19 is National Popcorn Day and Spin PR will celebrate with a gourmet popcorn battle. Come see popcorn lovers compete in a Chopped-style competition with their best take on unique flavors. Guests will also enjoy cocktails, popcorn tastings and more. Tickets cost $20 a person.

29. The Pancakes & Booze Art Show returns to Lot 613 in Los Angeles on Jan. 20 and Jan. 21 for an art exhibition offering a delectable mix of booze, flapjacks, and work from local artists.
30. If you care about social justice, you’ll want to check out the newest exhibition at Subliminal Projects. Shepherd Fairey’s illustrious gallery, located in Echo Park, debuts American Civics with an opening reception from 8 to 11 p.m.
