23 Awesome Things To Do in L.A. This Weekend [4-3-15 to 4-5-15]

Los Angeles provides no limit of things to do, some awesome and some not so awesome. Since time is precious in this fast paced city, we decided to curate a list of things to do in Los Angeles every weekend that’ll help you decide how you want to spend your limited supply of attention (not to mention dollars!).

This weekend includes beer festivals, a Cruel Intentions musical parody, awesome sample sales, Easter Brunch, a Renaissance Faire, and plenty more.

So grab some friends or go at it alone, but most importantly have fun and enjoy yourself!

Friday April 3rd, 2015

1. Cruel Intentions: The Completely Unauthorized Musical Parody 

This musical takes all the sexy, funny and memorable moments from the original movie, mashes them up with a soundtrack of top-40 hits from the 90s and then performs it all live onstage with a powerhouse cast and live band. With three sold-out preview performances last month this show is sure to be a hot ticket item. Shows begin at 8pm all weekend. Tickets are normally $18-$35 but you can score some for half-price (plus fees) via Goldstar.

2. First Fridays!

Whether it’s going to an art walk, sampling delicious food trucks or checking out a free night at a museum, first Friday events are a great way to connect to your local community and get out to do a little exploring. Here’s a list of first Friday events happening this week.

3. Take an Insider’s Tour Through East Hollywood’s Ethnic Neighborhoods

Thai Town, Little Armenia and Koreatown are filled with great food, shops and culture. For those interested in getting to know these neighborhoods this walking tour / tasting session is the perfect introduction. Tours will take place this Friday and Saturday staring at 2pm. Tickets are normally priced at $79 but you can find some for as low as $47.50 (plus fees) via Goldstar.

4. Lunchtime Yoga Retreat

Get your sun salutations on in the middle of Downtown in Grand Park! The free yoga class starts at 12:15pm and runs to 1pm.

5. ComedySportz: Fast & Funny Improv

ComedySportz is a fast-paced comedy show designed for the whole family. Watch as two teams battle for points and LOL’s at the National Comedy Theatre in Hollywood.  Tickets are priced between $15-$18 normally, but you can find half-price tickets (plus fees) via Goldstar for performances this Friday (8pm), Saturday (10pm) and Sunday (7pm)

6. H&S Band & Burlesque With DJ Dan Mancini

A full-on party happens at Harvard & Stone every Friday night. A band plays blues and rock n roll, DJ Mancini aka Ladypills spins tunes while a burlesque show heats things up at 10:30pm with a encore every hour.

7. Coffee & Conversation at Grand Central Market With We Like L.A.!

Here is a great way to kick-off your Saturday morning… We Like L.A. is having a little meet-up at Grand Central Market where angelenos can meet, greet, enjoy coffee and food in one of the oldest markets in Downtown. 8. KROQ Beer Festival

KROQ is hosting a free beer festival starting at 12:30pm on Saturday! Enjoy craft beers, food trucks and lawn games all happening at Santa Anita Park. 12oz. craft microbrews will be priced $5 and Metalachi, the world’s first and only metal mariachi band, will be playing between races.  Just be sure to enter the event via gate 6 to ensure free infield parking.

9. LA Beer Fest

The LA Beer Fest is back! Featuring dozens of international and domestic beers, over a dozen food trucks (food sold separately) as well as live entertainment. The Festival takes place at LA Center Studios from noon to 3pm and 5pm to 8pm. Admission is for only one session so make sure to buy the right ones!

10. A Current Affair Pop Up Vintage Marketplace

A Current Affair brings together over 50 premier vintage retailers and private dealers from Los Angeles and beyond. Host for the event include actress Marisa Tomei and artist Melodi Meadows with KCRW’s DJ Marion Hodges spinning tunes all day. This is a unique opportunity to shop a select assortment of vintage apparel, jewelry, and accessories while sipping on complementary cocktails by Chareau. 11. Casper LA Free Yoga Series In The Hollywood Hills

Start the day zen with Casper and Fab Fit Fun as they host a free yoga classes at Casper LA’s dream house in the Hollywood Hills. Be there at 11 am for a juice session. Sign up here.

12. Tony Darts Away Beer Event

Tony Darts Away is turning five and they are tapping an amazing beer every hour on the hour all weekend, including a special tapping of Darts Away IPA a custom IPA brewed with Golden Road at the stroke of midnight Friday April 3rd.

13. The Cleobella, Vanessa Mooney & L’Space Sample Sale

14. The Giving Tree

This play inspired by Shel Silverstein’s classic story is the perfect evening spent with your kids. Playing at the Los Angeles Children’s Theater the story follows a boy from young age to old. Get more information and discounted tickets to The Giving Tree via Goldstar.

15. Renaissance Faire

The Original Renaissance Pleasure Faire is the world’s oldest Renaissance fair. If you go you’ll see hundreds of costumed performers,  jousting,  knife throwing,  improv troupes, hundreds of artisans selling hand-crafted goods, and not to mention an incredible selection of food vendors. The Faire runs on Saturdays and Sundays from April 4 thru May 17, 2015.

16. Runyon Bootcamp Starts!

L.A.’s best donation based bootcamp is back! Every Saturday and Sunday at Runyon Canyon get your hiking and strength training on! Get ready to work with equipment like battleropes, kettlebells, slamballs, heavy duty resistance bands and sandbags. Check out their Facebook page for class times and future schedules.

17. Red-Blooded Debauchery at the American Monster Burlesque & Blues Show

Everyone needs some good old-fashioned adult debauchery from time to time. American Monster at Harvelle’s in Long Beach will host racy burlesque dancers performing to the live, dirty blues. There are back-to-back shows this Saturday starting at 9pm. Tickets normally range from $12.50-$25 but you can score some for half-price (plus fees) via Goldstar.

18. Escape Room LA’s Live-Action Adventure Presents The Cavern

Play Indiana Jones for a day with Escape Room LA! Find clues and solve puzzles to get your hands on a lost civilization’s ancient treasures hundreds of feet below Downtown Los Angeles! You’ll have less than an hour to escape, working with your team to solve challenging puzzles to break free. Will you make it? Tickets are regularly $45, but there are a few left you can purchase for $17.50 (plus fees) via Goldstar for Sunday’s Escape Room that starts at noon.

19. Easter Sunday Brunch at Hotel Figueroa

From 10am-3pm enjoy a Easter Sunday brunch at Hotel Figueroa in Downtown Los Angeles. Dine while listening to live music and drinking bottomless mimosa and Bloody Marys.

20. Easter Egg Hunting

Speaking of Easter, need something fun to do with the kids? There are tons of Easter Egg hunting events taking place on Sunday all over Los Angeles. Redtri put together a nice list for you to check out where one might be close to you in the greater L.A. area.

21. Amoeba Charity Auction with Kurt Braunohler
