Celebrate the opening of David Bowie: Among the Mexican Masters at Forest Lawn Museum in Glendale. This exhibit of rare Bowie photos launches Jan. 27.
Bowie’s death in 2016 was mourned by millions, who loved him for his brilliant, boundary-pushing music and sense of style. Now his legacy lives on in this show of photographs, never before exhibited, taken while Bowie visited Mexico City during his 1997 tour.
The 40-plus photos, taken by legendary Mexican photographer Fernando Aceves, show Bowie interacting with such Mexican cultural treasures as murals by Diego Riviera and Jose Clemente Orozco, the pyramids of Teotihuacan, the Frida Kahlo Museum, and more.
This show comes to Los Angeles as part of a year of cultural exchange between L.A. and Mexico City. L.A. is the first stop for this traveling exhibit before it makes its way around the world.
David Bowie: Among the Mexican Masters is FREE and open to the public from January 27 through June 15. The Forest Lawn Museum is open daily, except Mondays, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
