The Japanese Garden Festival returns to Descanso Gardens on October 14 and 15 for a celebration that includes tours, music, displays, crafting, and more.
This two-day event takes place at the beautiful 150-acre botanical garden in La Canada Flintridge, where you can learn about Japanese flowers and plants. At the Ikebana Display, featured on both days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., you can see examples of ikebana, the art of Japanese flower arranging. There will also be Japanese Garden Talk and Tours on both days starting at 10 a.m: Dr. Kendall Brown on Saturday and Naomi Hirahara on Sunday. Don’t forget to check out the Taiko Drummers from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. both days, where they perform heart-pounding feats of percussion. Create your own work of art inspired by the Japanese Garden, featured both days from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Tickets are available for purchase online and at the door. Prices are $9 for adults, $6 for students/seniors, $4 for children, and free for children under 5. Hours each day are 9 a.m. t0 5 p.m.
