Join José Andrés, Jonathan Gold, Zoeey Deschanel and a slew of other luminaries for The Power of Food: An Evening with José Andrés & Friends. Taking place on May 1 at one of the city’s most stunning art deco landmarks — The Wiltern — this evening will feature both an important conversation about the power of food and its impact in our communities AND a showcase for rising sous chefs during a two-segment cook-off.
Inspired by Jose’s notable relief efforts in hurricane-stricken Puerto Rico, four of Los Angeles’ top sous chefs will create a memorable dish out of everyday ingredients easily obtained in a disaster relief situation while displaying their creativity and ability to think on their feet.
In addition to Andrés, Gold and Deschanel, the conversation will also feature Robert Egger (Founder of L.A. Kitchen), Ron Finley (The Ron Finley Project), Nyesha Arrington (Executive Chef, Native LA), Tim Kilcoyne (Executive Chef, Scratch Sandwiches), Alex Granados (Sous Chef, Native LA), Manuel Villagomez (Sous Chef, Broken Spanish) and more to be announced.
The evening’s schedule is as follows:
7:00 p.m. — Doors & Dinner Reception
Dinner provided by L.A. Kitchen is included in ticket price. Drinks will be available for purchase all evening.
8:30 to 10:30 p.m. — Sous Chef Challenge & Panel Discussion
