Season Launch Party at California African American Museum (CAAM)

The California African American Museum launches its summer season with Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop!, a FREE party on Wednesday July 12!
Located in Exposition Park and also known as CAAM, the museum’s midweek party will feature several art exhibits, including the openings of Gary Simmons: Fade to Black (with paintings and drawings spotlighting race and class, the show references film, architecture, and American popular culture) and Face to Face: Los Angeles Collects Portraiture, a series of 50 fascinating portraits from CAAM’s permanent collection.
Buy bites from food trucks, including Harold & Belle’s (including beer/wine for sale), Postcards Central American Soul & Grilled Fraiche and listen to DJs Jasmine Solano, Francesca Harding, and DJ Cee Brown spin.
While you’re there, you also want to visit the newly opened Center Stage: African American Women in Silent Race Films, with screenings of rare examples of silent films; and Intersections: Caribbean and Brazilian Art From the Permanent Collection; No Justice No Peace : LA 1992; and Trouble Every Day: LA 1965/1992.
Parking in Exposition Park is $15 after 5:00 pm (cash only). Please enter at 39th and Figueroa Streets. Or, save on gas and parking and take the Metro Expo line’s. The USC/Expo Park station is just a five-minute walk to the museum door.
