Union in Pasadena is renowned as one of L.A.’s top restaurants — in fact, no less an authority than Jonathan Gold declared in the Los Angeles Times, “Bruce Kalman’s bastion of Italian authenticity is a breath of fresh everything.” Now you can help celebrate Union’s four-year anniversary with a six-course “Farm and Field” dinner on March 14.

Known for fine-quality locally sourced ingredients, the dinner will feature selections from some of Kalman’s favorite vendors, including bread from Pasadena’s Grist & Toll, sustainable butchery from Flannery Beef, Dock to Dish seafood, JJ’s Lone Daughter Ranch, Pomona’s beloved DiStefano Cheese and produce from Tehachapi’s  Weiser Family Farms.

The multi-course meal with wine pairings will include the chef’s handmade pastas. Union’s sommelier, winemaker George Pitsironis, will be on hand to pair each course with a glass of wine from Palermo Imports, renowned for its stellar Italian wine portfolio. Blue Pool oyster, caviar, pickled radish mignonette, chervil

Chilled grain salad, fennel, goat cheese, cara cara orange, sunchoke, quail egg

Santa Barbara spot prawns, charred lemon, pesto rosso, hazelnuts, herbs

Creamy polenta, wild mushrooms, truffle butter, pickled green garlic

Tortelli, smoked stracciatella, tomato orange fondue, whey

Holstein beef short rib, sweet potato gnocchi, mint vinegar, gremolata

Meyer lemon curd, brutti ma buoni cookie, strawberry
