Skirball Puppet Festival: Fantastic Creatures returns April 28 for a celebration for the art of puppetry and the magic of storytelling at the museum's eighth annual Puppet Festival. This massive festival features both new and old tales,presented by a variety of puppets, in addition to live music, and art making. 2019's program showcases animals (both real and imaginary), including performances and creations by North Carolina–based puppeteer and designer Hobey Ford, as well as local artists Yulya Dukhovny, the Los Angeles Guild of Puppetry, and the legendary Bob Baker Marionette Theater.

Union Station’s 80th Anniversary Celebration

Union Station is celebrating its 80th Anniversary on May 3 and May 4 with a two-day community celebration honoring this iconic downtown landmark. On Friday May 3 from 1 - 7 p.m., there will be live entertainment in the the regal Waiting Room from a diverse array of beloved L.A. musicians including the California Feetwarmers and the New Recessionaries. On Saturday, May 4, the celebration continues with a Family Fun Zone from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., a marketplace with L.A.-inspired art, crafts, and gifts made by local artists and artisans, and live music from Soul Fab (DJ John Gregory), SOL!D Selectors ( DJ Mick Cole), DJ Funky Soul, urban soul from KCRW’s Raul Campos (with guest DJs) and performances from Mariachi Arcoiris de Los Angeles and Latin soul band Jungle Fire.
