Fashioning Chinese Women: Empire to Modernity at LACMA -> This Sunday, LACMA debuts its newest exhibition, Fashioning Chinese Women: Empire to Modernity. the evolution of Chinese women’s dress during eras of profound societal change. Drawn entirely from LACMA’s permanent collection, the exhibition showcases over 70 rare garments, guiding visitors from the loose-fitting embroidered robes of the late Qing Dynasty to the sleek, iconic 1930s qipao and the global style of the 1950s cheongsam. The curated looks illuminate a seldom-seen story of how Chinese and Chinese American women navigated changing identities through personal style. Museum general admission tickets cost $30 for L.A.
