Chinese New Year Festival at The Huntington (February 1-2) -> Celebrate the Year Of The Snake in and around The Huntington’s gorgeous Chinese Garden, alongside of an array of traditional entertainment. Enjoy lion dancers, mask-changing performances, martial arts demonstrations, live music, arts and craft demos, and dining specials throughout the two-day event. Tickets start at $29 for adults. BEYOND THE STREETS Art Bazaar: Honoring LA’s Creative Spirit (February 1-2) – FA > BEYOND THE STREETS, in partnership with Tlaloc Studios and curator Ozzie Juarez are bringing 30+ creatives together for an two-day art market and community event. Expect a range of apparel, books, zines, ceramics, music, food, and exclusive new products on offer, with 100% of the proceeds going to local artists. Free to attend. Shanghai Nights (February 1) – FA > Benny Boy Brewing hosts Shanghai Nights, a Lunar New Year celebration, featuring a multi-lingual performance by Jessica Fichot featuring a songbook of 1940s Mandarin Chinese jazz tunes, Mandopop, iconic multilingual songs, and celebratory Chinese New Year classics. Lunar New Year at UPAM (February 1) – M FA TP > USC Pacific Asia Museum celebrates Lunar New Year with free admission to the museum, plus special activities including a lion dance, storytelling, calligraphy, crafts, and food trucks. Runs 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free to attend. More info here.
Discovery Cube LA: Barbie You Can Be Anything: The Experience (February 1 through May 11, 2025) -> Barbie: You Can Be Anything arrives at Discovery Cube Los Angeles with a traveling exhibit which showcases a variety of career dolls from the past six decades and highlights female Role Models who have broken boundaries. Kids can get hands-on using touchscreen interactives, themed role-play environments, and photo opportunities. Skate Oddity (February 1, 15) -> Skate Oddity celebrates David Bowie’s birthday with a Rock N Rollerdisco Party on February 1. Come dressed up as your fave version of Bowie and skate the night away to a soundtrack of Bowie, glam, goth, 80’s, synth, and rock and roll. Then on February 15 Skate Oddity presents A Love Witch Skate Date with a night of goth, post-punk, 80s, new wave, synth-pop, and rock ‘n’ roll. Channel your inner witch and come dressed to the theme. Both events take place at the LA Kings Burbank Sports Center from 5 to 9 p.m. Tickets to skate start at $23.18.
San Gabriel Lunar Lantern Festival (February 1-2) – FA > The San Gabriel Lunar Lantern Festival takes over the San Gabriel Mission District with beautiful lantern displays, live cultural performances, street food, and vendor booths. The event is free to attend. More info here.
Lunar New Year Celebration at South Coast Botanic Garden (February 1-2, 8-9, 15-16, 22-23) -> The South Coast Botanic Garden celebrates Lunar New Year every weekend in February. On Saturdays and Sundays, the Garden will host a flurry of activities and present live performances at 9:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. featuring including lion dancers, folk dancers and drummers. Whale Fiesta (February 2) – FA > The annual Whale Fiesta at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium is a day of family fun featuring special activities and exhibits, games, arts and crafts, puppet shows, marine awareness organizations, expert guest lecturers, music and a life-size podof inflatable whales. Skirball Presents Roots and Renewal: Honoring the New Year of the Trees (February 2) – FA > The Skirball Cultural Center hosts a free day of gratitude, healing, learning, and community in recognition of the Jewish New Year of the Trees. Arcadia Lunar New Year Festival (February 2) – FA > Downtown Arcadia celebrates the Lunar New Year with a day-long event featuring Lion Dance Performances, special food options, arts and crafts, a big red envelope giveaway, and a special donation drive to support Arcadia teachers, staff, and families who lost their homes in the Eaton Fire. How Can Our World Rethink Climate Mobility? (February 6) – FA > Nobody in the city engages ideas in live settings better than Zócalo Public Square, and this February their bringing their series to the new NHM Commons Theater for a panel conversation oriented around climate change, human movement, and international resiliency and cooperation. ICONIC LA MOVIES: Community Cinema Night at The Hollywood Roosevelt (February 6, 13, 20, 27) -> This February, the Hollywood Roosevelt invites guests to a weekly movie night under the stars at the iconic Tropicana Pool, featuring special screenings of classic Hollywood films every Thursday. Puppy Yoga LA Wild Fire Fundraiser (February 8) -> Common Space Brewery is hosting a special fundraiser to raise money for Pups Without Borders, with an aim to support pets impacted by the LA fires. Love Letter to LA (February 8) -> LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes is LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes hosting a day for the whole community featuring artmaking, wellness activities, music, access to essential relief resources, tea tastings, and more. Lil’ Libros will be on hand to assist with the artmaking, and guests are encouraged to create Valentine’s Day cards dedicated to Los Angeles. It’s all free and open to the public. Lunar New Year Celebration at Santa Monica Place (February 8) –FA > Santa Monica Place kicks off the Year of the Snake with a free Lunar New Year celebration, hosted by comedian Paul “PK” Kim. Guests watch lion dances, enjoy live music, balloon artistry, and receive calligraphy blessings, while kids get creative in the craft area. Red envelopes with special deals will also be given away. Love at LACMA (February 14) – FA TP > Celebrate Valentine’s Day at LACMA with a free event full of art, creativity, and connection. Night Dive at AoP (February 14) -> The Aquarium of the Pacific’s signature adults-only, after-hours series returns in February with a Valentines Day edition with food trucks, cash bars, DJs throughout the Aquarium galleries, art, and a live band playing in the Great Hall of the Pacific. River Sessions | Mile 25: Poet Laureates on Wheels LA Wildfire Benefit Ride (February 15) -> LA River Arts’ series exploring portions of the Los Angeles River takes to two wheels this month, as they’ll team up with BiciCrófono Los Angeles Poet Society for a group resilience ride to raise fire relief funds. Poets from across Southern California will be joining for the ride, and the event will be highlighted by special musical guests Juan Flautista, an Los Angeles-based poet, vocalist, and lifelong musician and flute player with Latin and Blues Rock influences. Pasadena Black History Festival (February 15) – FA > This year the Pasadena Black History Festival will focus on recovery within the community amidst the ongoing tragedy caused by the Eaton Fire. 2025 Asian American Expo (February 15-16) -> The 2025 Asian American Expo takes over the Fairplex in Pomona on February 15-16, bringing the largest Lunar New Year celebration in the U.S. to life. Dumpling Day at Santa Anita Park (February 15) -> For one day only, Smorgasburg curates a unique dumpling experience at Santa Anita Park featuring popup dumpling vendors trackside. Tickets range from $25 to $55. More info here.
2025 Winter Corgi Nationals (February 16) -> SoCal’s most competitive Corgis take the field at Santa Anita Park for a day of racing action, complemented by family activities, a Corgi-centric vendor village, plus food and drink for purchase. GA tickets start at $12 per person. More info here.
40th annual Kingdom Day Parade (February 17) – M FA > After getting reschedule to the L.A. Wildfires, the 40th annual Kingdom Day Parade returns to Leimert Park this February for one of the biggest Dr. Martin Luther King celebrations in the world. L.A. Art Show (February 19-23) – M > The L.A. Art Show offers 180,000 feet of exhibition space at in the Los Angeles Convention this center over a 5-day event in DTLA. Over 100 galleries, museums, and non-profit arts organizations will exhibit painting, sculpture, works on paper, installations, and photography from around the world. Felix Art Fair (February 19-23) – M > The seventh edition of Felix Art Fair takes over The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel with an international roster of 60+ galleries occupying both indoor and outdoor spaces of the iconic hotel. Tickets run $75 per day, or a run of the show pass cost $100. More info here.
The Other Art Fair (February 20-23) -> For spring 2025, the Other Art Fair is moving their four-day event from The Barker Hangar in Santa Monica to new digs in Atwater Village. Guests can still expect a curated selection of over 140 independent artists, offering the chance to scout art for sale while enjoying live DJ sets, activations, installations, and a cash bar. Frieze Los Angeles (February 22-23) -> Frieze Los Angeles is back for 2025 at the Santa Monica Airport. The four-day presentation of art features some of the most renowned galleries in the world, and also includes special activations and pop-ups from a few of L.A.’s most popular restaurants. African American Festival at AoP (February 22-23) – > The Aquarium of the Pacific’s annual African American Festival celebrates African American and African culture through a two-day affair featuring dance, music, storytelling to historical displays. CicLAvia – West Adams Meets University Park (February 23) – M FA > The first CicLAvia event of 2025 pops up along Jefferson Blvd. with a four-mile course stretching from La Brea to Vermont. Expect multiple activity hubs, special from local businesses, and plenty of room to walk, skate, bike, and play along the open streets route. Runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and always free to attend.
