Need some ideas for the month to come? March is chock full of familiar favorites from event seasons past, along with a few new entrants for your consideration.

Offerings include L.A. Zine Fest at The Broad, the return of NHM’s First Fridays for 2025, an immersive ‘Night at the Library’ at Central Library, Festival of the Kite in Redondo Beach, Barks & Brews at the LA Arboretum, Pasadena ArtNight, the The Torrance Cherry Blossom Cultural Festival, and a SoCal Museums Free-For-All. Regarding Her’s 5th Annual Women’s History Month Festival (March 1-31) – TPRegarding Her returns with its 5th annual Women’s History Month Festival, a month-long celebration of women-owned and led food and beverage businesses across Los Angeles. This year’s festival brings together top chefs, restaurateurs, and entrepreneurs for curated dining experiences, exclusive pop-ups, chef collaborations, mini marts, and more. Headlining events include a brunch at Amiga Amore and Moo’s Craft Barbecue, a pizza night with Hannah Ziskin (Quarter Sheets) and Nancy Silverton (Mozza), and a Sunday dinner at n/soto featuring Niki Nakayama (n/naka, n/soto), Mei Lin (Daybird), and other special guests. Beyond great food, the festival raises funds for LA wildfire recovery efforts and tackles funding gaps affecting women-owned businesses, with proceeds supporting Regarding Her Academy and member programs. L.A. Zine Fest at The Broad (March 1-2)- M FA > L.A. Zine Fest pops up at The Broad’s East West Plaza for a two-day extravaganza of all things D.I.Y. publishing, all presented in conjunction with The Broad’s collection exhibition, Joseph Beuys: In Defense of Nature. Expect dozens of exhibitors, hands-on workshops, panel discussions, and plenty of art to scope out inside the museum galleries. More info here.

PST ART Open House at The Ebell (March 1) – FA > \PST ART Open House at The Ebell offers a day and night of art exploration to conclude PST ART: Art & Science Collide. Highlights include the taping of a new game show pilot from Radiolab, a pop-up art-science book fair from Printed Matter, visions of alien life from the Berggruen Institute, artists and scientists in conversation, music and performances from AfroRithm Futures Group, Massima Bell and Julianna Barwick—plus a late-night “Hydrofeminism Lounge.” More info here.

Marina del Rey Dragon Boat Festival (March 1) – FA > The Marina del Rey Dragon Boat Festival returns with a full day of racing and festivities at the harbor. Watch over 40 teams compete in thrilling dragon boat races, enjoy live music, explore arts and crafts, and grab a bite from food trucks. The event also features a welcome ceremony and an awards ceremony at Burton Chace Park. More info here.

Mardi Gras at Benny Boy’s (March 1) -> Lincoln Heights’ Benny Boy Brewing is hosting a NOLA-style Mardi Gras celebration featuring beads, brews, a puppy parade, and a live 5-piece jazz band to round out the entertainment. Food vendors will include Thicc Burgers (Po’Boys and Gumbo) from 1 to 8 p.m., then Craw Daddy Boiler (cajun Seafood and king Cake) from 6 to 11 p.m. Party starts at noon. A Nine Inch Nails Photography Exhibition by Jonathan Rach (March 6-9) – FA TP > Jonathan Rach, award-winning documentary photographer and longtime Nine Inch Nails collaborator, debuts his Self Destruct Tour photography in the U.S. for the first time. After successful runs in Australia and the UK, the exhibition captures the raw energy of NIN’s 1994–96 global tour, celebrating 30 years of The Downward Spiral. Running March 6–9, the pop-up features an album playback on March 7 and an artist talk on March 8. More info here.

NHM First Fridays (March 7) – M > Natural History Museum’s signature monthly series returns for 2025 this year with an emphasis on sound and music. The March edition includes DJ sets in the nature garden, pop-up sound experiences throughout the museum, plus a discussion on the science behind healing sounds. First Fridays run 5 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $25. More info here.

Chinatown First Fridays (March 7) – M FA > L.A.’s Chinatown stays open late for an evening of exploring the unique small businesses, restaurants, bars and contemporary art and culture spaces that make up the historic neighborhood. The March edition of First Fridays runs from 5 to 11 p.m., and is co-presented. by KCUNG Radio. Free to attend, as always. More info here.

First Fridays at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA (March 7) – M FA > MOCA presents a special in-gallery performance of works by John Cage, Alvin Lucier, György Kurtág, Luciano Berio, and J.S. Bach, performed by Colburn School students Rebecca Beato, Dawid Kasprczak, Tom Mantel, and Serge Kalinovsky within the exhibition Olafur Eliasson: OPEN. Part of First Fridays at MOCA Geffen, the evening features special programming and free admission to exhibitions from 5–8 p.m. on the first Friday of each month. More info here.

Night at the Library (March 8) – M > Enjoy drinks and bites throughout DTLA’s Central Library as you explore an immersive after-hours event full of stories, interactive art pop-ups, performances, conversations, artists, live music and DJs. The lineup includes appearances by BodyTraffic, Carolyn Pennypacker Riggs’ Distance Duet presented by LA Phil Insight, dublab, Bob Baker Marionette Theater, Yesika Salgado, and Urban Voices Project, among others. Xingonx Fest (March 8) -> Join multimedia women’s activist organization Mujeres de Maíz at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes as they celebrate their 28th Anniversary with an of evening of poetry, performance and platica. The event starts at 3 p.m. and is free to attend. More info here.

47th Annual L.A. Chinatown Firecracker (March 8-9) -> One of the largest and oldest running races in the U.S., the L.A. Chinatown Firecracker returns for a two-day celebration at Los Angeles Chinatown Plaza. The event features runs, walks, cycling, and even a dog walk, kicking off with an opening ceremony packed with lion dancers and the lighting of 100,000 firecrackers. After the races, stick around for a festival-style expo with vendors, food, a beer garden, live entertainment, and kid-friendly activities. More info here.

Festival of the Kite in Redondo Beach (March 9) – FA TP > The 51st Festival of the Kite brings a colorful day of activations to the Redondo Beach Pier, including contests with category-specific kite flying prizes, DJ’d tunes, live music, and even a hot dog on a stick eating contest. The Nowruz Family Festival (March 9) – FA > Head to UCLA for a huge Nowruz celebration hosted by the nonprofit Farhang Foundation in Los Angeles. Nowruz, translating to “new day,” commemorates the vernal equinox, symbolizing universal themes of rebirth and renewal. This daylong, free program is suitable for all ages and encompasses traditional music, arts and crafts, dance, food, children’s activities, cultural performances to an Iranian tea house serving tea, Shirini, Iranian style sandwiches, and sweets. Bark & Brews (March 9) -> Barks & Brews is back at the LA Arboretum, presented by Fera Pets. Meet adoptable pets from Pasadena Humane, savor bites and beer from The Mt. Lowe Brewing Company. Your dog is also invited to join the fun, an admission for your four legged friend cost $10, and humans need to purchase admission to the arboretum. Pasadena ArtNight (March 14) – M FA > The spring edition of Pasadena ArtNight offers free admission and special activations at 19 of the city’s arts and culture institutions. Participants include the Pasadena City Hall, Gamble House, USC Pacific Asia Museum, and the Armory Center for the Arts. More info here.

LA Marathon (March 14-16) -> The 40th annual Los Angeles Marathon is a weekend-long experience that includes a two day expo at Dodger Stadium, a Saturday 5K, an LA Kids Run, plus the Charity Half Marathon and of course the big race on Sunday. More info here.

Toys As Art: Mattel’s 80th Anniversary Group Exhibition at Corey Helford Gallery (March 15) – FA > Corey Helford Gallery (CHG) teams up with Mattel Creations for a major new exhibition, celebrating Mattel’s 80th anniversary. The show features original, one-of-a-kind artwork from over 80 artists, each reimagining Mattel’s most iconic brands. More info here.

Hermosa Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade (March 15) – FA > The City of Hermosa Beach celebrates St. Patrick’s Day with a parade, live entertainment and activities set up at the Hermosa Beach Pier and surround areas. More info here.

Holi Beach Music Festival (March 15) -> This seaside Color Carnival taking place in Redondo Beach will include DJ’s spinning Bollywood, American pop and Afro Beat a music plus bursts of non-toxic color powder/water and pop-up food stalls. Tickets start at $28.52. More info here.

The SoCal Museums Free-For-All (March 16) – FA TP > SoCal Museums annual free admission day will see some thirty museums participating, including over two dozen in the Greater Los Angeles area. The free tickets in most cases will have to be reserved through each individual museum’s website. More info here.

Tam O’Shanter St. Patty’s Day Bash (March 17) -> Tam O’Shanter throws an epic St. Patty’s Day celebration in the parking lot of their 100 year old establishment. The day includes Irish food, live bands, kegs, green beer, raffles and more. There is a $10 cover to enter the tent this year. VIP tickets cost $149 and include a separate patio, drink tickets, and a complimentary snack menu. More info here.

St. Patrick’s Day Festivities at The Original Farmers Market (March 17) – FA > The annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration at The Original Farmers Market is a day-long event featuring Irish fare from select vendors, drink specials like imported Irish beer and traditional musical performances including a strolling Bagpiper. Montana Avenue Wellness Walk (March 22) – FA > The 2nd Annual Montana Ave Wellness Walk returns with a full day of outdoor workouts, wellness clinics, healthy bites and sips, painting classes, and mental health practices. Stroll the charming 10-block stretch of Montana Avenue in Santa Monica and enjoy special promotions from local businesses. More info here.

126th Annual Golden Dragon Parade (March 22) – M FA > The annual Golden Dragon Parade returns to L.A.’s Chinatown with route that spans portions of Hill Street and Broadway. Expect live performances, Lion Dance, dance troupes, and music groups providing entertainment for one of the most colorful celebrations of the season. Venice Love Fest 2025 (March 22) – FA > Venice Love Fest 2025 brings a day of good vibes and community gathering to Mar Vista. Expect live music, food trucks, over 400 locally made brands and artists, beer gardens, games, and family-friendly activities. Free to attend. More info here.

Spiked: A Celebration of Agave (March 22-23) -> South Coast Botanic Garden hosts a two-day festival celebrating the agave plant with an agave roasting demonstration, handcrafted tequila and mezcal cocktails, tacos, tortas, and live music. Families can enjoy interactive games, a crafting station, and hands-on activities, including a Papel Picado workshop. Tickets start at $15. More info here.

César Chávez Family Day at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes (March 23) – M FA > Celebration activist and labor leader, César Chávez with a day of dance, art, garden workshops and guest performances by the Folklorico Tierra Blanca and Folklorico Y Arriba Mexico. More info here.

NHM Butterfly Pavilion (Opens March 23) – M > The Butterfly Pavilion at Natural History Museum of Los Angeles returns on March 17, offering guests the chance to admire hundreds of butterflies, native plants, and caterpillars all in one place. Tickets to the Pavilion are $10, which is on top of regular museum admission (starting at $18 per adult). Runs through August 24, 2025. More info here.

Resistance and Liberation: Los Angeles Latine Poets Speak Out (March 26) -> LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes hosts an evening of poetry celebrating Los Angeles-based Latine voices and their legacy of resilience, identity, and cultural renaissance. More info here.

The Golden Screen (March 27) -> A new monthly centennial movie screening series at The Culver Theatre, presented by MGM & The Culver Hotel, offers classic films on the big screen paired with exclusive cocktails, canapés, and music. For the month of March they’ll screen the 1964 film Fistful of Dollars. Tickets are $47.25 via Open Table. Starts at 7 p.m. More info here.

Night Dive at AoP -> The Aquarium of the Pacific’s signature adults-only, after-hours series returns March with an after hours party with food trucks, cash bars, DJs throughout the Aquarium galleries, and a live band playing in the Great Hall of the Pacific. The Festival of Forgotten Grapes (March 29) -> Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay may dominate wine lists, but what about Semillon, Cinsault, and Marsanne? Enter The Festival of Forgotten Grapes, a celebration of California’s rare and under-appreciated varietals. Held at Mica Studio in the Arts District, the event features over 110 lesser-known wines poured by the passionate winemakers who produce them. Guests can taste, order bottles on the spot, and have selections delivered straight to their door for a low one-time fee. VIP tickets are sold out, but General Admission ($74.47) is still available. The Torrance Cherry Blossom Cultural Festival (March 30)- FA > Columbia Park in Torrance is the perfect place to enjoy cherry blossom season. The trees have exploded in color for 2025 an just in time for the annual cultural festival. The event will include live performances, a variety of crafts by local artisans, local cuisine all centered around the blooming cherry blossom. More info here.
