Bizarre. Eye-catching. Beautiful. Those are some of the words I would use to describe Corey Helford Gallery, which is undoubtedly one of L.A.’s standout commercial galleries of New Contemporary art. The 12,000 square foot space resides on the fringe of the Arts District, just east of the Los Angeles River in the shadow of the Sixth Street Viaduct. Here they focus on pop surrealism, street art, and post-graffiti works with three separate galleries that present a constantly changing lineup of artists. Exhibitions run the gamut from group offerings that pay homage to pop culture icons like 2023’s Jack Kirby tribute to individual creator features, like 2022’s Painting Over the Cracks, which included dozens of works by the English multimedia street artist D*Face.

Exhibitions run for about five weeks, so there’s always something new to check out. Opening receptions typically take place on Saturdays, which make it a solid date night option on the cheap. Otherwise, you can make it over during the regular gallery hours listed below.
