To-dos for the week? We’ve got a few.

This October 20-24 in Los Angeles, you’ll find an Alebrije Sip & Paint Night, a Succulent Pumpkin Workshop, a Paley conversation on the Golden Girls, Boo-ze Bites & Frights at Heritage Square, a Fall Festival in San Gabriel, Fourth Fridays in Long Beach and more.

Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch -> Culver City’s favorite pumpkin village offers plenty of family fun, including photo ops in front of giant pumpkin installations, a straw maze, a super slide, petting zoo, giant rocking horses, and pumpkin decorating sessions. Mr. Bones will continue daily through October 31. General admission cost between $15 to $17 depending on date and tickets for activities need to be purchased online ahead of time. There’s also a “Plus Pass” for $70 that covers unlimited access to select activities and entrance to an exclusive tent. More info here.

Alebrije Sip & Paint Night -> Head to Guelaguetza restaurant this Tuesday for a colorful Sip & Paint night celebrating Oaxacan art! At this creative evening, you’ll paint your own vibrant Alebrije—the fantastical spirit animal sculptures—led by talented artist Liseth Amaya. Your ticket includes all painting materials and Guelaguetza favorites to enjoy while you paint. Space is limited. $45 per person. Spots are available via OpenTable.

Made in L.A. at The HammerFA > Made in L.A. is back at The Hammer Museum with a biennial showcase of 28 artists and collectives whose film, painting, sculpture, and choreography is profoundly “of this city and nowhere else.” The exhibition is free to visit and runs through March 1, 2026. Critical Condition: Health in Black America FA > Join PBS SoCal and NOVA for a vital conversation on health equity at the special screening of Critical Condition: Health in Black America held at CSU Dominguez Hills this Wednesday. The evening includes selected clips from the film followed by a powerful panel discussion with filmmakers and experts. The event will share insight into the deep, long-standing factors—from historic pseudoscientific beliefs to the biological impact of discrimination—behind the health crisis facing Black Americans. Carved at Descanso Gardens -> Descanso Gardens’ family-friendly Carved returns continues all this week with a freshly thought out pumpkin wonderland featuring a new route, hundreds of carved pumpkins, and kid-friendly activities. Fowler Out LoudFA > Catch a special live performance from UCLA’s own rising star, singer-songwriter Ella Gibson, at the Fowler Out Loud series this Wednesday. Gibson, who won the top prize at Spring Sing 2025, offers a soulful indie folk-pop sound that blends the introspective storytelling of Phoebe Bridgers with acoustic-driven melodies. Concert runs from 6 to 7 p.m. and the museum (free to visit) is open until 8 p.m. on Wednesdays. More info here.

Succulent Pumpkin WorkshopM > This Wednesday, get your hands dirty and your creativity flowing at a Succulent Pumpkin Workshop hosted at Angel City Brewery. Maritza Aguirre from Soulful Succulents will lead the class, teaching you how to create a beautiful pumpkin succulent arrangement perfect for your fall decor. Thank You For Being a Friend! – FA TP > Celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Golden Girls Thursday as Paley Curator Allison Kraft hosts a special conversation with author Jim Colucci (Golden Girls Forever), diving into why Dorothy, Blanche, Rose, and Sophia remain cultural icons. Enjoy classic clips from the archive and celebrate the power of female friendship. Fall Fun FestivalFA > On Friday, the City of San Gabriel’s annual Fall Fun Festival pops up in the Mission District offering a range of family-friendly Halloween activities for all ages. Runs 5 to 9 p.m. and free to attend. More info here.

Halloween Movie Night at Ivy StationFA > Get into the Halloween spirit with a free outdoor screening of the ’80s classic, Beetlejuice, on the lawn at Ivy Station in Culver City this Friday. The lawn opens at 6:30 p.m., with the movie starting at 7:30 p.m. Arrive early to grab complimentary popcorn and enjoy pre-show spooky tunes under the stars. Fourth Fridays in Long BeachFA > Retro Row in Long Beach comes alive on the fourth Friday of the month with special pop-ups, live performances, and extended store hours from shops on 4th St between Temple and Cherry. This month they’re gearing up for a special Pride edition of the event. Runs 6 to 9 p.m. More info here.

Urban Death Tour of Terror at Zombie Joe’s Underground Theatre -> Continuing this Friday and Saturday, Zombie Joe’s annual tradition of Urban Death is back with a brand new series of terrifying vignettes, bookended by walks through a creepy maze. Boo-ze Bites & Frights M > The second weekend of Street Food Cinema’s Boo-ze Bites & Frights pops up at Heritage Square Museum this Friday and Saturday. On Friday, catch a double feature with Friday the 13th Part 2 and 3D, then Saturday brings Scream 2 and Scream 3 back-to-back. Both nights feature boozy bars, adult trick-or-treating, spooky house tours, a haunted trail with scare actors, and a costume contest. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. GA tickets start at $35. Parea Nights at Zaytinya (October 23) -> Zaytinya in Culver City debuts Parea Nights, a new recurring wine tasting inspired by the Greek tradition of gathering with friends to savor life’s simple pleasures. The series kicks off this Thursday with wine expert Paula Carvajal, who will guide guests through three distinctive Greek pours curated by California-based Springboard, each thoughtfully paired with Zaytinya’s signature Mediterranean mezze—think hommus, spanakopita, pide, and more. A live DJ will set the mood with a mix of Mediterranean and Los Angeles energy, creating a lively, communal atmosphere that flows into the night. Diwali at Fitoor Santa Monica (October 20) -> Today marks the start of Diwali, the Indian Festival of Lights celebrating the triumph of good over evil. To honor the occasion, Fitoor, Santa Monica’s contemporary Indian restaurant, is offering a limited-time Diwali Celebration Menu that captures the warmth and vibrancy of the holiday. The menu features festive small plates, mains, and desserts, including Babycorn Kurkure (corn croquette dusted with gunpowder and cheese), Dal Churma (pistachio laddu paired with tempered lentils), Lamb Keema Biryani, and Chhena Payesh Cheesecake, a modern, indulgent take on a Bengali classic.

Tlayudas for Good at Guelaguetza (October 22) -> Beloved Oaxacan restaurant Guelaguetza is hosting Tlayudas for Good in partnership with the Refugee Children’s Center, donating 15% of all ticket sales to support their vital community work. For $45 per person, guests will enjoy a full Guelaguetza Tlayuda experience—a vibrant Oaxaca-style spread with all the classic toppings, paired with a refreshing agua fresca.
