Fiesta HermosaFA > Memorial Day weekend in Hermosa Beach wraps up on Monday with the final day of Fiesta Hermosa! The festival features a marketplace with over 240 vendors, a wine garden, food fair, live music and a carnival. Admission is free. Starts at noon. More info here.

Valley Greek Festival -> The 49th Valley Greek Festival continues for day three on Monday, bringing a taste of Greek Life to the San Fernando Valley at Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. Expect dance performances and cooking demos, along with plenty of Greek dishes and pastries to sample. Runs noon to 9 p.m. More info here.

Fighting Two Battles: Inside California’s Inmate Firefighting ProgramFA > This Tuesday, The Hammer convenes a special forum around issues of prison inmate firefighting, discussed from the perspectives of formerly incarcerated firefighters. The talk begins at 7:30 p.m. and is free to attend. More info here.

Sketch Party – FA > Sketch Party’s twice-monthly drawing/drinking meet-up comes to Benny Boy Brewing this Tuesday. They’ll hook you up with sketch paper, pens, pencils, and markers, then it’s up to you to create, mingle, hang out, and enjoy BB’s solid lineup of craft beers and ciders. Jay’s Tacos will be serving food as well. All artistic levels welcome. Free to attend. Runs 7 to 11 p.m. 21+ only. More info here.

Jack Kirby Exhibition at The Skirball – > The Skirball Cultural Center just opened their new spring exhibitions, and we rate one of them as an absolute must-see. Jack Kirby: Heroes and Humanity documents the extraordinary six-decade career of a comic creator whose credits include Captain America, Ant-Man, the Black Panther, the Hulk, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and many more. Here you’ll find an expansive collection of comics, illustrations, concept art, posters, costumes, personal photographs, and video clips all woven together to demonstrate Kirby’s lasting impact on pop culture. The Skirball is open Tuesday to Sunday. Admission starts at $18 for adults, but it’s also free for all every Thursday. More info here.

Cape Shade!M > Sass up your Wednesday at Dynasty Typerwriter with a live soap opera where drag queens reign supreme and the drama is high as a kite. Cape Shade! producers describe it as if “Days of our Lives and Dynasty had a baby, and then it got kidnapped by John Waters.” Sound like your bag? Tickets are $25. Meet the Grunion TP > This Wednesday , Cabrillo Marine Aquarium in San Pedro hosts another edition of Meet the Grunion, a unique nighttime experience where you’ll learn about these silvery fish before heading to the beach to (hopefully) witness their fascinating mating ritual. As the waves roll in, the grunion briefly emerge onshore before disappearing back into the ocean—a true natural spectacle. Tickets cost $7 per adult and $3 for seniors and kids. Free Thursday Evenings at The BroadM FA TP > On Thursday, The Broad’s is offering free evening access to the new specially ticketed exhibition Jeffrey Gibson: the space in which to place me (normally $15 admission). Slots must be RSVP’d in advance, and it also includes access to The Broad’s (always free) third floor galleries. Timed slots are limited, and run from 5 to 8 p.m. More info here.

2025 Zócalo Book Prize: Can We Reimagine How We Feed Ourselves?M FA > This Thuresday, Zócalo Public Square’s 15th annual Book Prize Event returns to the ASU California Center Broadway in DTLA to honor food security analyst Jean-Martin Bauer. Inspired by his winning book, The New Breadline: Hunger and Hope in the Twenty-First Century, the event tackles the question: “Can we reimagine how we feed ourselves?”. PLUS: For the second year in a row, Zócalo will host Zócalo Reads: a reading hour led by the 2025 Zócalo Book Prize winner, and the first 20 attendees will receive a free copy of The New Breadline. Preview Performance: ‘Manifestos 7’ by Charles GainesFA > This Thursday, Hauser & Wirth’s West Hollywood Location welcomes conceptual artist Charles Gainesus for a preview performance of ‘Manifestos 7’ (2025), on the occasion of his West Hollywood exhibition, ‘Charles Gaines. Numbers and Trees, The Tanzania Baobabs.’ The performance will take place within the exhibition space, and will be followed by a discussion between Gaines and music director John Eagle. Autry After Hours -> The Autry’s weekly evening pop-up returns this Thursday live music and dancing on the plaza with “southern fried and cali-fied” country group Johnny Marfa and the Lights, line dancing lessons by Mike’s Country Dancing, and exclusive cocktails featured in the book Cowboy Cocktails by Andre Darlington. WeHo Pride -> After the WeHo Pride Arts Festival this past weekend, WeHo Pride gets into full swing this Friday to Sunday with the OUTLOUD Music West at West Hollywood Park (night one is free, the next two are ticketed), plus the Dyke March, the Women’s Freedom Festival, and the WeHo Pride Parade on Sunday. Jazz at LACMAFA > The Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s annual Friday Night Jazz series is back starting in May, offering free weekly concerts at Smidt Welcome Plaza. The fun continues this Friday with a performance by the Natalie Jacob Quintet. PLUS: Remember that LACMA is free to visit for L.A. County Residents (with I.D.) on weekdays after 3 p.m. Concert starts at 6 p.m. More info here.

Crustacean Beverly Hills Launches LITTLE C Pop-Up -> To close out AAPI Heritage Month, Crustacean Beverly Hills debuts Little C, a special daytime pop-up honoring Chef Helene An’s Vietnamese roots and five decades of success. Running May 28–30 with eight seatings across three days, Little C invites guests to experience comforting, bold Vietnamese flavors reimagined for the Crustacean table. For the first time, Chef An will serve her pho—a deeply personal recipe previously reserved only for family—alongside street food-inspired bites like crispy crab cha gio, langoustine DIY rolls, escargot banh xeo, and Vietnamese salads and desserts. Expect vibrant mocktails and cocktails like the refreshing da chanh lime soda. Crustacean’s iconic dining room will also get a makeover, channeling the spirit of Little C with a fun, casual-chic vibe. More info here.

The Walt Disney Table 31 Experience at Tam O’Shanter -> Dine like Walt Disney at Tam O’Shanter in Los Feliz with their new Table 31 Experience—a two-hour immersive meal at Disney’s favorite booth. This special seating includes a curated multi-course menu, a deep dive into the restaurant’s Disney history led by a Table 31 ambassador, and a keepsake to take home. The menu features nostalgic starters like Devils on Horseback, deviled eggs, and pickled vegetables, followed by a first course of chili or wedge salad. For mains, choose from roasted salmon, California-cut prime rib, or the 31 Platter—a charbroiled burger steak topped with chili, bacon, Scotch rarebit, onions, and fries, said to be Walt’s favorite. Dessert includes a CC Brown’s Hot Fudge Sundae or English Trifle. The experience is available daily for lunch and dinner (lunch is $20 less), and reservations are required.

And Just Like That & Magnolia Bakery Freebie -> To celebrate the Season 3 premiere of And Just Like That, Magnolia Bakery and HBO Max are giving away Carrie-approved treats in NYC, LA, and Chicago. On May 29, walk into any Magnolia Bakery and say you’re there for “Summer in the City” to score a free cup of their iconic Banana Pudding. Only 100 cups are available per city, first come, first served. Sex and the City famously helped put Magnolia on the map when Carrie bit into a cupcake outside their original West Village shop.
