Maeving Mondays: SKY JAM – FA > This Monday, Maeving Mondays: SKY JAM pops up atop the parking garage of The Lot at Formosaa for rooftop gathering bringing local musicians together to play live improvised music. Expect skyline views of the city alongside a sunset jam session. Guests can bring blankets, snacks, and instruments to join in, though non-musicians are welcome to spectate. Parking costs $10 inside the garage via the Poinsettia entrance with rooftop motorcycle parking available, alongside nearby street options. Entry is a $10 suggested donation. Free Community Yoga – M FA > This Wednesday afternoon, stop by Los Angeles State Historic Park for a free community yoga session organized by ActiveSGV. Held on the lawn north of the Welcome Pavilion, the beginner-friendly class accommodates all experience levels and focuses on accessible movement outdoors. Participants must bring their own yoga mat or reserve one in advance, alongside water and comfortable athletic clothing. Free. Runs 5 to 6 p.m. More info here.
Golden State Comedy -> On Wednesday, head to he High Low in Atwater Village for a stand-up showcase produced by Golden State Comedy. The lineup features comedians with credits across Comedy Central, Netflix, HBO, Hulu, and major local venues like The Comedy Store and The Hollywood Improv, including Leslie Liao, Moses Storm, Heather Pasternak, Julie Golden, Jason Horton, Stephen Cha, Sam Orson, Valerie Tosi, and Jonesy. Shakespeare in the Park – FA > The second half of the Independent Shakespeare Co.’s 2026 summer theater festival in Griffith Park continues this Wednesday to Sunday, as the ISC brings performances of A Comedy of Errors to the stage. The Photography Book Salon – FA > This Wednesday, celebrate World Photography Day at Leica Store and Gallery Los Angeles with The Photography Book Salon, led by Gallery Director Paris Chong. Attendees are invited to bring a photo book that inspires them for an open, community discussion on what photography uniquely preserves. Celebrating Gustavo at the Bowl – TP > The Hollywood Bowl honors Music & Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel’s final summer residency with four special concerts this week. The series opens on Thursday with Dudamel leading the LA Phil and YOLA through Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, followed by Gustavo’s Fiesta on Friday with Los Tigres del Norte and Lila Downs. JazzPOP 2026 at the Hammer – FA > The 19th season of JazzPOP at the Hammer concludes this Thursday with a performance by Portland multi-instrumentalist Machado Mijiga. Parking is available in the underground garage. Admission is free. Concert start at 8 p.m. More info here.
Ritchie Forever: LA BAMBA Screening & Panel Discussion on Ritchie Valens -> This Thursday, the Philosophical Research Society hosts a screening of the 1987 Chicano cinema classic La Bamba in partnership with Grand Performances, Hat & Beard Press, and El Cine. The screening is followed by a panel discussion exploring Ritchie Valens’ rock ‘n’ roll legacy, featuring actor Geoff Rivas, Las Cafeteras co-founder Hector Flores, Grand Performances CEO Rafael Gonzalez, and Valens’ siblings Irma and Mario Valens. Salsa Night at Ivy Station – M FA > This Friday, Ivy Station hosts its monthly outdoor Salsa Night, featuring a free, beginner-friendly dance lesson led by instructor Pepe Gonzalez followed by live music from Fermin Fusion Salsa. Attendees can purchase food and drinks on-site from vendor stalls, dine-in spots, and rotating food trucks, with complimentary two-hour parking validation available in the main garage. Whittier Narrows Artisan Market & Festival – FA > This Friday to Sunday, Whittier Narrows Recreation Area hosts the Whittier Narrows Artisan Market & Festival, a three-day outdoor gathering celebrating regional makers and small businesses. The family-friendly event features artisan booths selling handcrafted jewelry, home decor, ceramics, and specialty foods, alongside live crafting demonstrations, food trucks, games, and live music. TAPE LA at Barnsdall Art Park – FA > All throughout August, TAPE LA takes over Barnsdall for Friday Art Nights. The free activations on Pine Grove and at the LAMAG gallery go full video with a tape swap, an interactive TV wall, Home Video Night, an Analog Petting Zoo, and more to be announced. Free to attend. Chado In Wonderland Afternoon Tea (Through August) -> Chado Tea Room’s limited-time Chado In Wonderland afternoon tea is a whimsical dive down the rabbit hole. For $69 per person, the experience opens with a raspberry champagne welcome and a “Painting of the Roses Red” spinach, watermelon, and strawberry salad, before moving through an assortment of Mad Hatter-approved tea sandwiches, English scones, and curious sweets including a White Rabbit matcha mousse cup and Queen of Hearts pistachio and raspberry macarons. Each guest chooses one of Chado’s Alice in Wonderland-inspired teas to round out the experience. Available daily through the end of August. Reservations on the Chado website.
Father’s Office Burger Hand Roll at Uoichiba (Through August) -> LA burger institution Father’s Office is sharing a nori sheet with Joint Seafoods in-house hand roll bar Uoichiba this August. Chef Sang Yoon’s gastropub teams up with the Downtown and Sherman Oaks locations to serve a cheeseburger hand roll packed with wagyu beef, bacon fat-caramelized onions, Gruyère and Maytag cheeses, and arugula. Yi Cha $35 DineLA Menu (Through August 28) -> Yi Cha in Highland Park might have the best DineLA deal in the city. For $35, four courses, all choose-your-own-adventure style. Start with a snack like grilled fish jerky. Nosh on a Kimchee Caesar for your second. Pick a main: twice-fried Korean fried chicken or KTown rice cake nachos. Close with dessert. The Fuji apple eggrolls with doenjang caramel is our personal favorite. More info here.
