Urban Death at Zombie Joe’s Underground Theatre -> Zombie Joe’s annual tradition of Urban Death is back beginning this Friday with a brand new series of terrifying vignettes, bookended by walks through a creepy maze. Runs on Fridays and Saturdays (and a few Sundays) with multiple performances each night. Advance tickets are $24 online, or it’s $28 at door. Get more info here.

Pasadena’s biannual ArtNight – M FA TP-> ArtNight Pasadena returns for the fall this Friday, offering free evening admission to 20+ participating museums, galleries, and performance spaces. Highlights include live dance and musical performances, hands-on art workshops, ghost stories, and special exhibitions at institutions like the Armory Center for the Arts, USC Pacific Asia Museum, and The Gamble House. Ivy Station Night Market: Spooky Season -> Culver City’s Ivy Station hosts a Spooky Season Night Market this Friday, promising a festive evening featuring local artisan vendors, craft beer from LA Ale Works, food trucks, and a live DJ. Attendees of all ages and their leashed pets can enjoy tarot readings, aura photography, mini pumpkin decorating, and hand-drawn portraits. Admission is free. Son of Monsterpalooza -> Son of Monsterpalooza’s fall convention Son of Monsterpalooza returns to the Marriott Convention Center in Burbank to usher in the Halloween season this Friday to Sunday Horror, sci-fi, and fantasy fans can browse over 150 vendors offering unique art and collectibles, watch live makeup demonstrations, attend celebrity guest panels, and catch film presentations. Goth Cumbia Night -> This Friday, Benny Boy Brewing hosts Goth Cumbia Night, a 21+ spooky celebration featuring live music from Eddie Y Los Vamps. The evening includes a local artisan mini mart and a “Little Shop of the Dead” floral workshop. Admission is free. 21+ only. Runs 6 to 11 p.m. More info here.

Fall Exhibition Celebration at The Hammer – FA TP > The Hammer Museum’s slate of fall exhibitions includes retrospectives of abstract artists Huguette Caland and Mavis Pusey alongside new Hammer Projects installations. For opening night this Saturday, guests can explore the galleries late into the evening while enjoying music from DJ Shay Elys in the courtyard alongside food and drinks available for purchase. Bacchus Uncorked: Beer in Ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt at Getty Villa -> Beer has been around for more than 5,000 years, and the Getty Villa is celebrating that legacy in style with a special event this Saturday. Archaeologist Tate Paulette draws on ancient evidence from Mesopotamia and Egypt to illuminate the world of early brewing, sharing his own experiences recreating it. He is joined by classicist and beer historian Travis Rupp, who explores the flavor profiles of the earliest brewing traditions before introducing modern brews inspired by ancient practices. Tickets are $110 and include a thematic beer selection, hearty appetizers, and conversation. More info here. 

L.A. Archives Bazaar – FA > Attention SoCal history hounds! L.A. as Subject’s Los Angeles Archives Bazaar returns this Saturday, offering its annual treasure trove of historical treasures to explore as you engage with experts from dozens of institutions and archives. The 2056event takes place at Golden Eagle Ballroom at Cal State University Los Angeles  and is free and open to the public. Runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. More info here.

15th Annual El Velorio Cultural Celebration – > Plaza de la Raza hosts El Velorio, a 21+ cultural celebration marking its 16th anniversary this Saturday. The evening features main stage performances by Sonido Dolores Y Su Conjunto and Mariachi Ascencio, a Rock en Español stage, a lowrider show, and live painting. An art exhibition with over 200 artists benefits the National Tattoo Museum alongside skull painting, catrinas, food, and drinks. GA tickets start at $15. More info here.

Barks & Boos -> On Saturday, the L.A. Arboretum hosts a day of fun for dogs, craft beers and food trucks for humans and pet adoption education for those considering rescuing a dog in need of a home. Coordinate costumes with your pup, and participate in a dog costume contest at 2:30 p.m. Admission for dogs cost $10 and will benefit the Pasadena Humane Society and LA Arboretum Foundation. Culver City Art Walk and Roll Festival – M FA > This Saturday, a four-block stretch of Washington Blvd will close to traffic for a day-long event featuring gallery visits, artists, live music, wine and beer gardens, a kids zone, interactive art experiences, and more. Oktoberfest at Westwood Village – FA > The second annual Oktoberfest at Westwood Village returns to Broxton Plaza on Saturday for a festive, pet-friendly afternoon filled with German-inspired food, live music, vendors, and games. Admission is free. Runs 1 to 6 p.m. More info here.

CatCon – M > The world’s largest cat-centric pop culture event, CatCon, returns to the Pasadena Convention Center this Saturday and Sunday. Feline enthusiasts can meet adoptable kittens, shop over 200 vendor booths, attend expert-led workshops, snap photo ops, and spot celebrity guests and celebricats. Note that personal pets are not permitted. Runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. GA tickets start at $50.53. More info here.

Dogtoberfest at South Coast Botanic Garden -> South Coast Botanic Garden’s Dogtoberfest returns for 2026, bringing dogs and owners together for an Oktoberfest celebration every Saturday and Sunday from October 10 to November 1. The festival features live oompah music, dog races, stein-holding contests, a Pup Crawl, and Bavarian food at Dottie’s at the Koi Pond. VIP passes add beer tastings and splash pools. CicLAvia Heart of LA – M FA > On Sunday, CicLAvia—Heart of LA brings a 6.5-mile course of open streets spanning Chinatown, Little Tokyo, the Arts District, Boyle Heights, and Echo Park. Participants of all ages are invited to walk, bike, skate, and explore the neighborhood public space at their own pace. Admission is free. Runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. More info here.

Off the Hook Seafood Festival -> Santa Monica’s premier 21+ seafood tasting event returns to the Santa Monica Pier with OFF THE HOOK Seafood Festival this Sunday. The annual festival features dishes from over 25 top local restaurants, live music, and drinks on the boardwalk, with proceeds benefiting marine conservation non-profit Heal the Bay. 2026 Indigenous Pride LA – M FA > Indigenous Pride LA comes to Exposition Park this Sunday, offering a free celebration uplifting Two-Spirit, Indigiqueer, and Indigenous LGBTQPAI+ communities. Under the theme “The Radiance of Our Steps,” the event features cultural and drag performances, live music and dancing, artist vendors, food stalls, and community resources. Admission is free. Gershwin and the Golden Age -> The Los Angeles Jewish Symphony teams up with Great American Songbook ambassador Michael Feinstein for Gershwin and the Golden Age at The Soraya this Sunday. Conducted by Dr. Noreen Green, this tribute celebrates George and Ira Gershwin’s classic Hollywood film scores and 1930s cinematic contributions, culminating in a rare performance of George Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F major featuring pianist Samuel Glicklich. Exclusive Anniversary Menu at Modu Cafe (October 9-11)  -> Arts District coffee shop Modu Cafe marks two years with a collaborative team menu and giveaways this Friday through Sunday. Sweet highlights include a Calamansi Cardamom Bun and a Pecan Pie Tart filled with lacto-fermented plum jam and toasted milk whipped cream. On the drinks side, an Earl Grey Matcha with Salted Cream Top, Tamarind Espresso Tonic, and Banana Latte round out the celebratory menu. The crispy shrimp katsu comes tucked into a potato bun with Mr. Jong’s Shabang Sauce, lemon pepper cabbage, and corn slaw. The collaboration nods to the Viet Cajun tradition that emerged along the Gulf Coast, where Vietnamese refugees embraced the regional seafood boil and made it their own with flavors like lemongrass, garlic, citrus, fish sauce, and plenty of spice.
