
Well, that rain is putting a bit of a wrench in the works eh? Bob Baker Day has been postponed until September (boo!) but there are plenty of other to-dos on the docket (yay!).

Boots & Brews at Ivy Station – FA M > This Friday, saddle up for a coastal country-themed evening for the April edition of the Ivy Station Night Market. “Boots & Brews” transforms the Ivy Station plaza into a lively western-inspired festival activation featuring a mechanical bull, line-dancing vibes, and over 30 local artisan vendors. Guests can “sip and shop” with craft beers from Los Angeles Ale Works or grab dinner from a variety of visiting food trucks and on-site restaurants. Runs 5 to 10 p.m. Free to attend. More info here.
VHS Workout Class – TP > Dust off your leg warmers for a beginner-friendly retro exercise session led by Liv at the Elysian Theater’s Skunk Room this Friday afternoon. This nostalgic “goofy routine” features a medley of fitness programs played straight from VHS, including Jody Watley: Dance to Fitness, David Gray’s Dance Fever, and the legendary Richard Simmons. Participants are encouraged to fully lean into the theme with 80s workout attire. And yes, there will be a costume contest! Workout starts at 2 p.m. $15 gets you in the class. More info here.
Selena Night at Benny Boy – FA > Celebrate the Queen of Tejano at Benny Boy Brewing this Friday with an evening of music, nostalgia, and community. This inaugural tribute features a live performance by Nira, who will bring Selena’s greatest hits to life alongside a full band. The event transforms the brewery into a festive space with themed activities, specialized crafts, and plenty of space on the dance floor to “party like it’s 1995.” It all runs from 8 to 11 p.m. 21+ only. Los Angeles Climate Week – FA > Los Angeles Climate Week brings eight days of community-led events, creativity, and action to the city, uniting voices across industries and neighborhoods around a shared vision for an equitable climate future, all from April 8-15. Among the highlights, this Saturday the public is invited to join an LA River Crawl in Frogtown, which will feature over a dozen venue activations featuring live music, DJs, poetry, food pop-ups, workshops, crafting. KJazz Tracks at Union Station – FA M TP > Celebrate Jazz Appreciation Month this Saturday with the return of KJazz Tracks, a free concert hosted by Union Station in partnership with LACMA and KJazz 88.1 FM. KJazz DJ José Rizo hosts a night of live performances headlined by New Orleans funk and blues legend Jon Cleary & The Absolute Monster Gentlemen. Hokusai and the Great Wave: A Global Ripple Effect – M > This Saturday, discover the visionary mind behind the world’s most famous woodblock print at JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles. This deep dive into the life of Katsushika Hokusai (1760–1850) explores his role not just as a master of ukiyo-e, but as a pioneering educator and a foundational influence on modern manga and animation. Opening Celebration: Mountain Spirits – FA > This Saturday at the Fowler Museum, celebrate the launch of Mountain Spirits: Rice and Indigeneity in the Northern Luzon Highlands, Philippines with an evening reception and performance by the Malaya Filipino American Dance Arts and BIMAK. The exhibition explores the Ifugao people’s breathtaking rice terraces—UNESCO-recognized feats of engineering—and the sacred rituals that sustain them. Scottish Fiddlers of Los Angeles Spring Concert -> Prepare for a high-energy evening of Celtic music as the Scottish Fiddlers of Los Angeles celebrate their 42nd annual spring concert this Saturday at the Hermosa Beach Community Theatre. This 40-member orchestra brings together fiddles, bagpipes, harps, and Gaelic song to perform a rousing program of marches, reels, and jigs. Brunch Launches at Tiki Kai (April 11) -> There are worse ways to spend a Saturday morning than eating French toast near the ocean in Hermosa Beach. Tiki Kai launches brunch this weekend, putting a playful island spin on the classics. Expect Island Pancakes with mascarpone whipped cream, macadamia nuts, and sliced bananas; a coffee-rubbed hanger steak with sunny side up eggs, crispy hash browns, and toasted sourdough; and Hawaiian bread French toast with fresh raspberries, maple syrup, and mascarpone whipped cream. Night Out for No Kid Hungry (April 11) -> One of the city’s most celebrated culinary fundraisers makes its LA debut at Rolling Greens in Downtown Los Angeles. Over 60 top chefs, restaurants, and mixologists come together for an evening benefiting No Kid Hungry, with an all-star lineup including Top Chef winners Brooke Williamson, Mei Lin, and Melissa King, Ludo Lefebvre, Osteria Mozza, Kali Restaurant, and multiple James Beard Award winners.
