Raise It Up for Youth Literacy – FA > Head to Ovation Hollywood this Saturday, May 31 for Raise It Up for Youth Literacy, a day-long affair designed to inspire a love of reading in children and young adults. The program includes storytelling, puppet-making, face painting, bookmark crafts, games, music, and more. Runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free to attend.

WeHo Pride -> WeHo Pride -> After the WeHo Pride Arts Festival this past weekend, WeHo Pride gets into full swing this Friday to Sunday with three days of joyous activations (mostly) centered around West Hollywood Park and a nearby stretch of Santa Monica Blvd. Both Saturday and Sunday will feature a street fair full of live performances, community group booths, and unique exhibitors. Free event highlights include the Women’s Freedom Festival (Saturday), the annual Dyke March (Saturday and the WeHo Pride Parade (Sunday). Get more details on all events here. Monsterpalooza – M > This Friday to Sunday at the Pasadena Convention Center, celebrate the art of monsters and movie magic with over 400 exhibitors, plus special guests, a monster museum, makeup demos and more. Tickets start at $43.91. More info here.
Zombie Joe’s 20th Anniversary Shows -> Zombie Joe’s Underground Theatre Group is celebrating two terrifying decades of productions with a special edition of their classic sitdown show, accompanied by an all-new maze. Performances continue this weekend, running on Fridays and Saturday nights through June 14. All shows start at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $22.50. More info here.
Jazz at LACMA – FA > The Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s annual Friday Night Jazz series is back starting in May, offering free weekly concerts at Smidt Welcome Plaza. The fun continues this Friday with a performance by the Natalie Jacob Quintet. PLUS: Remember that LACMA is free to visit for L.A. County Residents (with I.D.) on weekdays after 3 p.m. Concert starts at 6 p.m. More info here.
Marina Cultura Jam – FA > Los Angeles County Department Beaches & Harbors is hosting a day of family-focused entertainment this Saturday at Burton Chace Park in Marina del Rey. The 2025 edition of Marina Cultura Jam will include live Taiko drumming, drum circles, a resource fair, kids crafts, a photo booth, DJ sets, and more. Off the 405 at The Getty – FA > The Getty’s annual Off the 405 summer music series tips off this Saturday with a performance from SML, a Los Angeles based jazz quintet that blends influences of Afrobeat and kosmische. Let’s Go Glendale – FA TP > This Saturday, a new open streets initiative called Let’s Go Glendale transforms a 1.3 stretch of Glendale Ave into a car-free space offering community members the chance to walk/ride/roll to their heart’s content, all while exploring the neighborhood up close and enjoying a trio of activation hubs that will include special musical performances. Summer Starts Here at the Hayden Tract – FA > Culver City’s Hayden Tract welcomes the start of summer this Saturday with a curated open-air market featuring local small businesses and AAPI-owned brands, all supported by food trucks and DJ sets. AAPI Market with Playland Beauty + Friends – M FA > Old Pasadena’s One Colorado wraps up AAPI Month with a special celebration market this Saturday that bands together a dozen unique vendors offering everything from beauty and fashion goods to unique accessories, art, plants, and sweet treats. Latin Sounds at LACMA – FA > The Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s sizzling series of Saturday evening music is back at Hancock Park (adjacent to the museum campus) starting this month. Latin Sounds offers world-renowned artists performing everything from Indigenous music to sounds from Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, Peru, and Los Angeles. Next up on the schedule, catch a performance by the jazz collective Soul Sauce. Free to attend. Runs 5 to 7 p.m. More info here.
Rescue at Discovery Cube Los Angeles -> Need something kid-friendly (and indoors) for the weekend? Discovery Cube Los Angeles just opened a new exhibition called Rescue, where little ones can dive into interactive displays that showcase cutting-edge rescue technology and techniques used in life-saving missions across land, sea, and air. It’s included with general admission, which starts at $20 for adults, and $17 for children (ages 3-14) More info here.
Downtown Burbank Arts Festival – FA TP > This Saturday and Sunday, head to the San Fernando Valley for the Downtown Burbank Arts Festival, a massive vendor marketplace curated by Jackalope Arts. The two-day event features 170+ indie sellers offering curated goods include original fashion and jewelry design, paper goods, innovative home decor and housewares, art, photography, food, and more. LATINAFest 2025 – M > The largest outdoor festival celebrating Latinas returns to Grand Park this Sunday for an empowering day of music, dance, food, and special activations. The 7th annual LATINAFest program includes a morning yoga session, cultural workshops throughout the afternoon, a platicas lounge, and shopping from special vendors. Salsa on Sunset – FA > Silver Lake’s Sunset Triangle Plaza comes alive this Sunday with a fresh edition of Salsa on Sunset. These monthly sessions bring locals together for a community dance party where the vibes are friendly and beginners are totally welcome. California Turkish Festival – FA > This Sunday at Shoreline Aquatic Park in Long Beach, the California Turkish Festival showcases traditional Turkish street foods and drinks (think döner, kebabs, baklava, Turkish coffee, etc…) along with an array of family-friendly entertainment, including live music DJs, arts and crafts vendors, and children’s activities. Hollywood Bowl Day at Smorgasburg – FA > Smorgasburg partners with LA Phil this Sunday to celebrate the season to come at L.A.’s most iconic outdoor venue. Guests can enter a raffle for tickets to the Bowl, and vendors will be showcasing an array of “punny” specials like: Glad’s “King Caesar & The Anchovy Wizard” focaccia, Bernie’s “Chillharmonic” granita, and more. Out of the Fire LA charity cookout at OyBar -> Kick off summer with a feel-good feast this Sunday as Out of the Fire LA (a 501c3 non-profit) hosts a charity cookout at OyBar in Studio City. The event supports families of LA City and County firefighters displaced by January’s wildfires. Co-founded by Aron Pobereskin (formerly of Alinea and Noma) and Jeff Strauss of OyBar and Jeff’s Table, Out of the Fire LA previously provided over 36,000 meals to first responders during the crisis. Tickets are $75 and include the full food menu—grilled oysters, shrimp, chicken, pork—and two beverages. All ticket proceeds and event profits go directly to benefit affected firefighter families. Pride Sunday at La Bohème -> Headed to Pride this weekend? Make a pit stop at La Bohème in West Hollywood, perfectly situated along the parade route. On Sunday, the restaurant will host a lively party with brunch and bottomless cocktails for just $39.
