On deck for this July 25-27 in Los Angeles, you’ll find a KCRW Summer Nights team-up with Grand Performances, Off the 405 at The Getty, The Natural World of Studio Ghibli at The Ford, 2025 Los Angeles Brewsology at California Science Center, National Day of the Cowboy & Cowgirl at The Autry, and more.

The Natural World of Studio Ghibli -> This Friday to Sunday, The Natural World of Studio Ghibli brings a trio of Hayao Miyazaki films to the big screen at The Ford. The lineup for the series includes The Boy and the Heron on July 25 at 8 p.m., Howl’s Moving Castle on July 26 at 8 p.m., and The Wind Rises on July 27 at 7:30 p.m. Each screening will hosted by film critic and writer Carlos Aguilar and featuring trivia with prizes provided by Super Yaki. Long Beach Walls x Art RenzeiM FA > The Long Beach Walls and Art Renzei Festival (formerly POW! WOW! Long Beach) is a week-long (July 20-26) event, that brings together muralists and artists to activate the streets of Long Beach with murals and art installations. Headed into the weekend, you’ll also find special programming/activations including a Moonlight Mash Bike Mural Tour (Thursday), special exhibition in collaboration with Thinkspace Gallery, (Thursday and Friday), and a Night Market (Friday). Saturday also coincides with the DTLB Art + Design Walk, which will offer even more live activations and music through the Downtown area. Get more info here.

The Music Center’s Dance DTLAM FA > Free evening dance parties return to The Music Center’s Jerry Moss Plaza every Friday from June 21 through August 16. At Dance DTLA, instructors will be on hand to teach guests easy-to-follow steps, allowing everyone to get into the groove right from the jump. This Friday, the series continues with an evening of Reggaeton. The event is always free to attend, and always all-ages. Runs 7 to 11 p.m. More info here.

Night Dive at AoP -> The Aquarium of the Pacific’s signature adults-only, after-hours series returns this Friday with an late-night party featuring food trucks, cash bars, DJs throughout the Aquarium galleries, and a live band playing in the Great Hall of the Pacific. GA tickets are $44.95 per person. Runs 7:30 to 11 p.m. More info here.

Movie Night at Ivy StationM > Culver City’s Ivy Station is hosting a summer movie night on the lawn this Friday with a showing of Clueless beginning at 8:30 p.m. Blankets and low-back chairs are fine, but remember seating is first-come, first-served. Grand PerformancesM > Grand Performances hosts on a pair of performances this weekend to cap July. First on Friday, catch the second installment the She Speaks poetry series inspired by Bengali Muslim feminist Begum Rokeya and her 1905 story, Sultana’s Dream. Then on Saturday, GP teams up with KCRW for a Summer Nights Concert featuring Baby Rose, Angélica Garcia, and DJ sets from KCRW DJ Francesca Harding. Both nights get going at 6 p.m. Both are free to attend. More info here.

Robot Karaoke -> Robot Karaoke bee-boo-bops back to the Skunk Room at the Elysian Theater this Friday night. The monthly karaoke shindig takes the lyrics any song with words from a specific text, then syncs each line syllable-for-syllable using a totally fancy algorithm. Think something like a Yelp review for psychics to the tune of Total Eclipse of the Heart. Each song has never been heard before and will never be heard again. Singers will include local comedians, karaoke ringers and audience volunteers (sing as a group too!). Tickets are $10. Show starts at 8 p.m. More info here.

Summer of Salsa at LA Plaza M FA > LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes’ Summer of Salsa will host a second July event this Friday with programming that was originally scheduled for June 13 but then postponed due to the increased immigration raids. For this edition of the event, the Echo Park Project will perform with a supporting set from Super DJ Robby. Free to attend. Starts at 6 p.m. More info here.

Shakespeare by the Sea Festival Summer Finale FA > Shakespeare by the Sea closes out its run of 2025 performances with a pair of shows this weekend in Redondo Beach. On Friday, catch a performance of As You Like It at Veterans Park. Then on Saturday, it’ll be Julius Caesar at Dominguez Park. Both shows start at 7 p.m. and are free to attend. Off the 405 at The Getty FA TP > Catch sunset vibes, world class art, and great tunes as The Getty’s annual after-hours concerts series Off the 405 continues this Saturday with a performance by Empress Of on July 26. It’s free to attend but remember that you’ll need to pre-register for a time entry slot, and parking is $10 after 6 p.m. on Saturdays. Event starts at 6 p.m. Main set at 7:30 p.m. More info here.

Rooftop Desert Yoga at Hollywood VOLUME -> Hollywood VOLUME and Kinship Highland Park are offering free 60-minute rooftop Vinyasa yoga classes every Saturday at 10:30 a.m., led by instructor Meg Shoemaker. The weekly session takes place on the hotel’s scenic rooftop and is open to both hotel guests and locals, with RSVP required. After class, guests can enjoy a complimentary drink with a brunch reservation at Wes Avila’s coastal Mexican spot, KA’TEEN. Brunch reservations are available via Resy from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

2025 Los Angeles BrewsologyM > Up for an adult field trip to the California Science Center? The 2025 edition of Los Angeles Brewsology comes to CSC this Saturday for an evening affair featuring dozens of local craft breweries and cideries, plus after-hours access to museum exhibits and special science demos. Tickets are $55 for GA, or $70 for VIP. Early entry starts at 7 p.m. More info here.

Vine & Dine: A Tomato-Centric Benefit Party -> This Saturday, Savor the peak of tomato season at Vine & Dine, a festive benefit dinner and dance party capping off Food Access LA’s inaugural Tomatopalooza Festival. Held at the historic Garibaldina Society in Highland Park, the night centers on a tomato-forward buffet curated by Chef Amanda Lanza, featuring produce from local farmers like Roland Tamai, handmade pasta from Ferrazzani’s, and Bub and Grandma’s focaccia. Sip drinks from the Garibaldina’s classic bar and dance the night away to Manila Sound, a Filipino-American DJ collective spinning disco, funk, and Original Filipino Music. A raffle adds more excitement, with prizes including a Roman food tour with Sophie Minchilli and a cooking class at Sicily’s Anna Tasca Lanza school. Tickets start at $100 and support Food Access LA’s mission to bring healthy, affordable food to communities across Los Angeles. More info here.

The Frogtown Get Down -> On the last Saturday of July, Frogtown Arts is hosting a special fundraiser dance party at Happier Camper, right on the LA River Path. Expect DJ-spun tunes, bites and flavors from local eateries, an art exhibit and sale, and a community auction. Tickets are $125, or 4 for $400. All proceeds support Illuminate the Night and Frogtown Arts’ free community programs. Runs 6 to 9 p.m. More info here.

National Day of the Cowboy & Cowgirl at The Autry -> For National Day of the Cowboy & Cowgirl (this Saturday!) the Autry is extending its museum hours until 7:30 p.m. and guests of all ages can enjoy trick ropers, cowboy poetry, live music, country line dancing lessons, film screenings, and docent-led tours all day. Tickets are $19, with free admission for kids. More info here.

Matinees on the Mountain -> Ready for a movie day with a view? Mount Wilson Observatory continues its Matinees series this Saturday with a of the 1997 film Contact presented in a cozy 256-seat auditorium. Come early to explore the observatory, picnic on the grounds or grab lunch at the Cosmic Cafe before the show. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for kids 12 and under. More info here.

Long Beach Dragon Boat FestivalFA > The Long Beach Dragon Boat Festival returns to Marine Stadium Long Beach on Saturday for the largest dragon boat competition in California. Guest can expect Chinese traditional art demonstrations, acrobats, dance, music and martial arts performances. Event runs 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Free to attend. More info here.

Afro Mujeres Fest 2025 at Plant ChicaM FA -> This Sunday, the 5th Annual Afro Mujeres Fest brings together Black women from across the diaspora for a day of culture, celebration, and healing in Leimert Park. Expect live performances, workshops, discussions, and free gifts. The event is free to attend and runs from 1 to 5 p.m. More info here.

Yappy Hour @ 33 Taps Silverlake -> On Sunday, Dogs Only Social Club takes over 33 Taps in Silverlake for a special Yappy Hour from noon to 3 p.m. Bring your pup, enjoy a cold beer, and treat them to something off the dedicated doggy menu—100% of proceeds benefit LA Animal Rescue. Looking to adopt? A few furry friends will be on site and ready to meet their future families. More info here

LBX Neighborhood Market: Summer Safari!FA > LBX Neighborhood Market brings a day of kid-friendly activities and special vendors to the LBC this Sunday.. Family Movie Night at Common SpaceFA > Hawthorne’s Common Space Brewery is hosting a family movie night this Sunday featuring a screening of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Sendero Launches Rooftop Poolside Dining (Saturdays Through August) -> Sendero is hosting Rooftop Sunset Sessions every Saturday evening through August on the 26th-floor rooftop of The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles. From 5 to 8 p.m., guests can enjoy panoramic city views, live music, and dishes like duck confit arepas, fresh ceviche, aguachile, and hot empanadas. Seasonal cocktails, wine, and beer are also available at special pricing. For full menu access and pool privileges from 4 to 9 p.m., reserve a Sendero Dinner Cabana through the hotel concierge ($250++ for four guests). Walk-ins are also welcome at Sendero’s reception. 

Fuegos LA Pops Up at Angeleno Wine (July 25) -> This Friday, Exposition Park’s Argentinian spot Fuegos heads to Angeleno Wine in Chinatown for a one-night pop-up. Expect grilled favorites like Argentinian chorizo with chimichurri and salsa criolla, plus a Lomito sandwich made with sirloin, mustard, mayo, arugula, caramelized onion, and roasted red pepper (vegetarian option available). The pop-up starts at 5 p.m., with $11 wine specials and local beers available from 4 to 8 p.m. Matrushka, a local handmade clothing brand, will also be onsite with free tailoring on pieces.
