USC Pacific Asia Museum dedicates itself to the arts and culture of Asia and the Pacific Islands. The Pasadena-based institution counts among its collection more than 15,000 objects, some of which date back as far as 4,000 years. UPAM also hosts rotating exhibitions featuring contemporary artists, like the marvelous current offering, Cai Guo-Qiang: A Material Odyssey, which explores the artist’s unique process of using gunpowder and pyrotechnics to create drawings, paintings, and events (on view through June 15, 2025)

General admission for adults starts at $20, but free admission is offered every second Sunday of the month. Check the UPAM calendar page to see if there are any special activations associated with an upcoming second Sunday. They have a free parking lot too!
