Make Metro Part of Your Weekend

Jeffrey Gibson: the space in which to place meM > This Saturday, The Broad opens a new specially ticketed exhibition featuring the work of Jeffrey Gibson, a queer artist of Choctaw-Cherokee heritage who was the first Indigenous artist to represent the United States as a solo artist at the U.S. Pavilion for the 60th Venice Biennale. Jeffrey Gibson: the space in which to place me offers a critique of systemic injustice and racial erasure through the contrast of vibrantly colored geometric designs to cultural references/quotes/artifacts. Points of references run the gamut from song lyrics and old letters to quotes from political documents. Gibson uses a range of mediums, and the exhibition includes ten paintings, seven sculptures, eight flags, three murals, and one video installation. Tickets for entry to the special exhibition start at $15 for adults. It will run through September 28, 2025. More info here.

Go Metro: Take the B or D Lines to Grand Park / Civic Center station OR the A or E Lines to Grand Av Arts/Bunker Hill station
