Nationwide over 1,200 museums are participating in Museum Day Live! on Saturday, Sept. 24, and this includes some 10 spots around L.A. County that will be joining in on the fun.

Guests who want to take advantage of the offer simply have to register on the Smithsonian website (free) and they will receive a voucher for participating museums, which include:

  • Autry Museum of the American West
  • GRAMMY Museum at L.A. LIVE
  • Japanese American National Museum
  • Zimmer Children’s Museum
  • Santa Monica History Museum
  • Western Museum of Flight
  • The International Printing Museum

In addition to the seven locations listed above there are several year-round free museums taking part in the celebration including:

  • Plaza de Cultura y Artes
  • The Fowler Museum at UCLA
  • Forest Lawn Museum in Glendale

Remember that each registered voucher provides general admission for the ticketholder plus one guest. If you bring more than one guest but only have one voucher, those extra guests will end up having to pay full price.

Also, if you’re already booked up for that day, keep in mind this handy list of free museum days that take place every month in Los Angeles.

As always, be sure to check the official websites of the venues you choose to visit and take parking costs into consideration when planning your trip.

For more information and to register for your Museum Day Live! voucher please visit the official website. If you have specific questions about the event, I’d urge you to start with the FAQ page.
