Bixby Knolls receives a cool update

A food-focused shopping center called SteelCraft is set to grand open in Bixby Knolls the first weekend of February. Built with repurposed shipping containers you can “Think of it as a food truck, and we took the wheels off,” said Mark Turpin, president of Turpin Design Group who designed the space. Although the grand opening is a month away, Steelhead Coffee and Smog City Brewery are already open and serving the public. In the coming month we will see DeSano Pizza Bakery, from Santa Monica ; Waffle Love, from Utah ; Tajima Ramen House from San Diego; and Fresh Shave, serving Hawaiian shave ice open with more to come.

Finally, just a quick snapshot of the best thing we’ve eaten in the past week…

The Al Pastor Taco at Petty Cash is made with succulent adobo-chile rubbed pork shoulder and topped with a generous slice of sweet pineapple.
