In MORE Ice Cream News….

This is not a joke. The Museum of Ice Cream is coming to Los Angeles from April 22 to May 29. Created as an art installation, tempting features include a “sprinkle pool” filled with nearly 100 million sprinkles made of antimicrobial plastic (no edible), a melted-popsicle jungle and a banana split made of 10,000 bananas.

Best thing we ate this week…

Bar Angeles is in Silver Lake along Sunset Boulevard where Elliott Smith’s Figure 8 wall resides. The wall is still well maintained with part of it relocated inside the restaurant to make way for a window.

Bar Angeles serves gastropub fare to go along with a solid drink program. My personal favorite is the Crispy Polenta cake topped with wild mushrooms, bitter greens, and a mascarpone sauce reminiscent of country gravy, all topped off with a fried egg. It’s the perfect balance of creamy, crunchy and savory.  (see photo below)

Other favorites include the bone marrow, fennel sausage pizza and manila clams in xo sauce (could be an ode to the Elliot Smith song OR the name of a traditional Chinese sauce… I’ll let you decide.)

Bar Angeles is a nice addition to the bustling Silver Lake neighborhood. I will happily return for the cheeseburger which you can get for only $7 during happy hour 😉
