The Muppet Scriptland: Muppet Treasure Island -> On Tuesday, The Muppet Script returns to Dynasty Typewriter for a staged reading of the nautical classic Muppet Treasure Island. This live performance spotlights the wit of legendary Muppets scribe Jerry Juhl and directors Brian Henson and Kirk Thatcher, bringing the beloved seafaring adventure to life with a star-studded cast. The event is a benefit for the California Collaborative for Immigrant Justice (CCIJ), supporting advocacy and legal services for immigrant liberation. Sketch PartyFA > Sketch Party’s twice-monthly drawing/drinking meet-up comes to Benny Boy Brewing this Tuesday. They’ll hook you up with sketch paper, pens, pencils, and markers, then it’s up to you to create, mingle, hang out, and enjoy BB’s solid lineup of craft beers and ciders. All artistic levels welcome. AAPI Night Market at Sender One LAX -> Celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month this Wednesday with a night of community and movement at Sender One LAX. Hosted in collaboration with the Asian Climbing Collective, FilipinUp, and ACE Next Gen, this event blends the energy of a night market with the excitement of indoor climbing. Whether you’re a seasoned climber or a complete beginner, you can enjoy a live DJ, local AAPI vendors, games, and raffle prizes. Pitch-A-ParentTP > The folks from Pitch-A-Friend are launching their first-ever Pitch-A-Parent night this Thursday, specifically designed for single parents and those interested in dating them. This high-energy event moves beyond the digital grind by having best friends—or even adult children (18+)—give 3-to-5-minute PowerPoint presentations on why their favorite single parent is a total catch. Expect a positive, lighthearted atmosphere focused on real-life connections and community. It all takes place at The Arches LA (12821 Washington Blvd) beginning at 7 p.m. GA tickets are $23.18. Sound Bath in Realms of the Dharma -> On Thursday, immerse yourself in the tranquil atmosphere of the Realms of the Dharma: Buddhist Art Across Asia exhibition at LACMA’s Resnick Pavilion. Master Tibetan singing bowl artists Michael & Jahna Perricone and Shakti Armstrong lead this unique auditory journey, blending ethereal vocals and the resonant tones of rare antique Himalayan singing bowls. This session is designed to foster mindful contemplation and deep listening, offering a serene way to engage with centuries of Buddhist art. The session starts at 7 p.m. Tickets $20 for non-members. Dodgers Singles Mixer at Common Space -> Looking to find a date who bleeds Dodger Blue? This Thursday, Common Space Brewery is hosting a Dodgers Singles Mixer designed to take the pressure out of dating. To keep things moving, the brewery provides name tags and “lineup cards” to break the ice, along with three specific icebreaker cards for every attendee. The game will be shown on the big screens with full audio, creating a stadium-like atmosphere right in the taproom. Starts at 7 p.m. More info here.

dublab presents: Music + Movement – > This Friday, experience a profound intersection of sound and performance as dublab presents an evening of avant-garde Japanese Butoh and live experimental music. Hosted by the Venice Family Clinic as part of their Art Exhibition + Auction, this event invites guests to explore the galleries while witnessing a performance characterized by deliberate movement and raw vulnerability. Butoh, a radical dance form emerging from post-war Japan, focuses on themes of transformation and the unconscious. The event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. and is free to attend, but donations are encouraged. Burritos La Palma x Paradise Dynasty Birria XLB (May 11-12) -> Paradise Dynasty and Burritos La Palma have been cooking up something special. After months of R&D, the two teams are launching a limited-edition Birria XLB: slow-braised birria de res in chilies and spices, tucked inside a delicate dumpling wrapper. To celebrate the launch, Paradise Dynasty is giving away a free basket of birria soup dumplings on May 11 and 12, one per party of four, at the South Coast Plaza and Americana at Brand locations. Through May 22, baskets are available at a special introductory price of $7.99, before moving to regular pricing of $12.99 through June 14. More info here.

Monday Gran Fiesta at Daisy (Mondays) -> Daisy Margarita Bar in Studio City launches a weekly Monday Gran Fiesta from 5 to 7 p.m., and the lineup makes a strong case for never dreading Mondays again. Food highlights include $1.50 oysters with hibiscus mignonette, a wagyu Daisy Dog, Chorizo Fries, and Crab Tostada. On the drinks side, classic Tommy’s Margaritas, micheladas, shot-and-beer combos, $10 wines, and half-price on select bottles round out the fiesta.

OTOTO Sake Week (May 11–17) -> OTOTO dedicates a full week to the art of sake, with a different walk-in event every night from May 11 through 17. The week kicks off Monday with a pairing contest pitting wine against sake, with guests casting the deciding vote. Tuesday brings visiting brewers Taka Yamauchi of Huchu Homare and Kotaro Saito of Saiya Shuzo, pouring six selections between them with retail bottles available for purchase and signing. Wednesday shifts to chu-hai, exploring shochu highballs alongside Kyushu-inspired snacks. Thursday offers a focused sake pairing menu, while Friday hosts a book launch with photographer Wyatt Conlon, featuring rare bottles brought directly from Japan and unavailable in the US. Saturday opens the cellar for “open that bottle” night, pouring rare sake in 2 oz and 4 oz formats. The week wraps Sunday with a staff-curated menu of house favorites.
