Majordomo Does Brunch and It’s Worth Waking Up For
Most people know Majordomo as a dinner destination. The David Chang flagship, tucked inside a Chinatown warehouse, has built its reputation on long evenings and bold flavors. This year it opened its doors on weekend mornings. The room feels different in daylight. Looser. Still very much itself.
The brunch menu is tightly curated and quietly confident. Global in spirit, grounded in Asian and California ingredients, with just enough edge to remind you where you are.
Order the Ichigo Rita early. Reposado, strawberry sake, plum, and rhubarb. Bright, a little unexpected, and sets the right tone.
The Bing Basket arrives reimagined. Fluffy buns replace the traditional flatbread, served with three dips. The ricotta with strawberry jam and chili crisp is the standout. The Crispy Bing also makes a brunch appearance, topped with smoked pork shoulder, avocado crema, and a fried egg.
For something lighter, the coconut yogurt parfait with buckwheat granola and seasonal fruit is a simple, well-considered plate. The Corn Pancakes, stacked three high with palm syrup, whipped crème fraîche, and a crunch of cornflakes, are straightforward and satisfying.
Do not leave without ordering the Steak and Eggs. Served in a pot with crispy rice, scallions, and pickled daikon, it is mixed tableside and it is rich, layered, and deeply comforting. A full meal on its own. The kind of dish that makes a strong case for staying at the table well past noon.
Brunch at Majordomo is available every Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 2pm. Reservations are recommended.
