You might lose a little sleep this weekend (thanks Daylight Savings time!), but at least you’ll have lots to do.

On the calendar from March 7-9 in Los Angeles, catch a Metro Bike Share Community Ride, First Fridays at MOCA, an immersive Night at the Library, Bark & Brews at the LA Arboretum, free second Sunday at USC Pacific Asia Museum, the Redondo Beach Festival of the Kite, and more.

Make Metro Part of Your Weekend

Metro Bike Share Community Ride -> The next edition of the Metro Bike Share Community Ride series rolls in this Saturday with a 6.6 mile one-way trek from University Park to Culver City, where the group will then dock bikes and catch a ride back on the E Line to the starting point. The meetup starts at 3775 S Vermont Ave and participants 16 years and older can reserve a Metro Bike (in advance) at no cost. Ride starts at 10 a.m.

A Nine Inch Nails Photography Exhibition by Jonathan RachFA TP > This Thursday to Sunday, Jonathan Rach, award-winning documentary photographer and longtime Nine Inch Nails collaborator, debuts his Self Destruct Tour photography in the U.S. After successful runs in Australia and the UK, the exhibition captures the raw energy of NIN’s 1994–96 global tour, celebrating 30 years of The Downward Spiral. Running March 6–9, the pop-up features an album playback on March 7 and an artist talk on March 8. More info here.

Something to Crow About Benefit Performance –> This Friday, Bob Baker Marionette Theater will host a special benefit performance of Something to Crow About, Bob Baker’s original satirical/fantastical production which was first developed in 1959. 30% of all ticket sales for the night’s show will support Zorthian Ranch, a 48-acre historic ranch and artist colony that suffered catastrophic losses due to the Eaton Canyon Fire. Show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25. More info here.

NHM First FridaysM > Natural History Museum’s signature monthly series returns for 2025 this Friday with an emphasis on sound and music. The event includes DJ sets in the nature garden, pop-up sound experiences throughout the museum, plus a discussion on the science behind healing sounds. First Fridays in Bixby KnollsFA > The March edition of First Fridays along Atlantic Ave in Long Beach will be a Women’s History Month. Expect live music, women-led art art, and extended hours at participating businesses. Runs 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. More info here.

The Bruin Flea FA > The Bruin Flea is back at Broxton Plaza in Westwood Village this Friday, wrangling a collection of local vendors offering everything from jewelry and collectibles to vintage clothing, streetwear, pins, stickers and more. First Fridays at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCAM FA > To celebrate their March edition of First Fridays, MOCA presents a special in-gallery performance of works by John Cage, Alvin Lucier, György Kurtág, Luciano Berio, and J.S. Bach, performed by Colburn School students Rebecca Beato, Dawid Kasprczak, Tom Mantel, and Serge Kalinovsky within the exhibition Olafur Eliasson: OPEN. Chinatown First FridaysM FA > L.A.’s Chinatown stays open late this Friday for an evening of exploring the unique small businesses, restaurants, bars and contemporary art and culture spaces that make up the historic neighborhood. Night at the LibraryM > On Saturday, Enjoy drinks and bites throughout DTLA’s Central Library as you explore an immersive after-hours event full of stories, interactive art pop-ups, performances, conversations, artists, live music and DJs. The lineup includes appearances by BodyTraffic, Carolyn Pennypacker Riggs’ Distance Duet presented by LA Phil Insight, dublab, Bob Baker Marionette Theater, Yesika Salgado, and Urban Voices Project, among others. 47th Annual L.A. Chinatown FirecrackerM FA > This Saturday and Sunday, one of the largest and oldest running races in the U.S., the L.A. Chinatown Firecracker returns for a two-day celebration at Los Angeles Chinatown Plaza. The event features runs, walks, cycling, and even a dog walk, kicking off with an opening ceremony packed with lion dancers and the lighting of 100,000 firecrackers. After the races, stick around for a festival-style expo with vendors, food, a beer garden, live entertainment, and kid-friendly activities. More info here.

Festival of the Kite in Redondo BeachFA TP > The 51st Festival of the Kite brings a colorful day of activations to the Redondo Beach Pier this Sunday, including contests with category-specific kite flying prizes, DJ’d tunes, live music, and even a hot dog on a stick eating contest. The Nowruz Family FestivalFA > Head to UCLA for a huge Nowruz this Sunday celebration hosted by the nonprofit Farhang Foundation in Los Angeles. Nowruz, translating to “new day,” commemorates the vernal equinox, symbolizing universal themes of rebirth and renewal. This daylong, free program is suitable for all ages and encompasses traditional music, arts and crafts, dance, food, children’s activities, cultural performances to an Iranian tea house serving tea, Shirini, Iranian style sandwiches, and sweets. Bark & Brews -> Barks & Brews is back at the LA Arboretum this Sunday. Presented by Fera Pets, the event offers guests a chance to meet adoptable pets from Pasadena Humane and savor bites and beer from The Mt. Lowe Brewing Company. Your dog is also invited to join the fun, an admission for your four legged friend cost $10, and humans need to purchase admission to the arboretum. Free Second Sunday at UPAMM FA > For March, USC Pacific Asia Museum’s free second Sunday program offers an assortment of activities exploring flora and fauna in Asian art and architecture. This Sunday, Wescom Kindness marks their 11th annual Daylight Savings initiative where customers can receive free tea and coffee at 22 select Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf locations spread throughout SoCal for this Sunday. Seoul’s Gebangsikdang Pops Up in LA -> Michelin-recognized Gebangsikdang from Seoul takes over the Hibi space in Koreatown now through March 23. Famous for its soy sauce-marinated raw crab, the pop-up flies in fresh Korean blue crab to deliver the same bold flavors that have made it a standout in South Korea. More info here.

Preview of firstborn in Chinatown -> Ahead of its late March opening, Chef Anthony Wang’s upcoming Chinese American concept, firstborn, is popping up in Chinatown during the L.A. Chinatown Firecracker race on March 8 and 9. The takeout-only lunch menu offers a first taste of Wang’s Chinese American flavors, shaped by his upbringing, travels through Beijing, Tianjin, Changchun, and Shanghai, and classical French training. Dishes include Country Fried Chongqing Chicken with aromatic chilies, a Shaobing Sandwich with sliced shank beef, and a Choux au Craquelin filled with cardamom pastry cream, apple, and candied ginger ($7–$45).
