10 Fun Things To Do TODAY in L.A. for December 22, 2018

You know what’s handy? Waking up in the morning, firing up your phone/computer and being able to scan a super quick (but curated) rundown of the best of what lies ahead. So here it is, our list of fun things to do in Los Angeles for today, Saturday, December 22, 2018.

1. [9:30 a.m.]  Spend the morning prepping meals and hygiene kits for the less fortunate during Serve, Sip, and Socialize at Shopify LA located in ROW DTLA. Set up by SameSide and Shopify LA, volunteers will enjoy mimosas and light bites in return for help and donations of warm items (jackets, socks, blankets, etc.) or monetary donations $10-$25 to Shopify LA’s charity partners Hashtag Lunchbag/Happy Period. Free to volunteer!

2. [11 a.m.] The Paley Center for Media celebrates the holidays with family-friendly experience PaleyLand. Guests can enjoy daily screenings of classic holiday TV programs, a Candy Cane Forest , arts and crafts, dreidel games, and free hot cocoa. No reservations are required. Open Wednesdays through Sundays till January 6, 2019. FREE

3. [11:30 a.m.] It’s the Holiday Sing-Along with the L.A. Phil where a collection of classical and modern holiday tunes will be paired with vocals by the Angeles Chorale, and a live jazz combo.

4. [noon] Get fully immersed in the holiday spirit during Winter Fest happening at the OC Fairgrounds from December 20, 2018 through January 6, 2019. A festival of lights, outdoor ice skating, ice tubing, snowfall, a candy wonderland and Santa Claus are just a few of the magical things happening.

5. [4 p.m.Marina Lights Movie Night will screen The Nightmare Before Christmas for free at Burton Chace Park. Before the show, The Wonderelles will perform holiday music in 50’s and 60’s style, The screening will take place at 6 p.m.

6. [5 p.m.] Street Food Cinema and Heritage Square Museum team up for Yuletide Cinemaland.

7. [sundownGrand Park’s Winter Glow is a free immersive art experience covering 12 acres of Grand Park in Downtown Los Angeles. The art, projection and light displays will illuminate paths and play off of the park’s most iconic elements, including the Arthur J. Will Memorial Fountain. The holiday-inspired event will run nightly from December 1 to 25. FREE 

8. [5:30 p.m.]  Descanso Gardens’ Enchanted: Forest of Light returns for another installment with a host of interactive displays and nighttime activities from November 18 through January 6, 2019 daily. This seasonal event runs daily. Check for discounted tickets before making your purchase. DISCOUNTED(via Goldstar)

9. [7 p.m.] A 35,000 square foot Entertainment Art Park opens in Downtown Los Angeles featuring five Samskara immersive domes that have made an appearance at Coachella, Burning Man, Lightning In A Bottle and more. This Saturday the park will host a winter solstice party featuring visual art, interactive VR/AR experiences, live performances, psychedelic and meditative soundscapes.

10. [various]  There’s a Gilmore Girls experience coming to Warner Brothers Studios. From December 22 through January 6 fans can dine at Lorelai’s and then walk through sets like Lorelai and Rory’s home, the gazebo and town square all from the show.
