37 Awesome Things to do This Weekend in L.A. [2-26-16 to 2-28-16]

Los Angeles provides no limit of things to do, some awesome and some not so awesome. Since time is precious in this fast paced city, we decided to curate a list of things to do in Los Angeles every week end that’ll help you decide how you want to spend your limited supply of attention (not to mention dollars!).

This weekend (February 26 to February 28) includes a a Chanel pop-up at The Chateau Marmont, The LA Travel & Adventure Show, a chili cook-off at Santa Anita Park, a Star Trek musical at Caltech, The L.A. Comic Book & Science Convention, and the Ultimate Academy Awards Party at The Ace Hotel.

1. I LOVE COCO Chanel Pop Up at Bar Marmont

Friday, February 26th through Sunday, February 28th, Chanel invites the public to experience “I Love Coco”—a free three-day installation at the Chateau Marmont that will feature complimentary beauty services and free swag.

2. Quiet Clubbing Party

Quiet Clubbing is coming back to Los Angeles and this time they are taking over Watermans Restaurant in Hermosa Beach. The party involves three DJ’s playing live simultaneously, through frequencies only heard through headphones. Partyers can switch between channels to hear any DJ they want, at any given time. 3. The Virus an Immersive Escape Room Experience

5. Tease, If You Please Burlesque Show

This super sexy and seductive burlesque show aims to transport you back to the golden age of striptease and Gypsy Rose Lee. Staged at The Globe in DTLA, Tease, If You Please spotlights acts from some of the most creative dancers in the business. Miss Donna Hood, who performed alongside the one-and-only Dita Von Teese in Strip, Strip, Hooray!, produces this thoroughly modern, vintage-style show, with a rotating cast of artist. 6. Late Night Weekend Happy Hour at aestus

Owner/Wine Director Kevin O’Connor and new Executive Chef Andrew “Dru” Betita are giving Westsiders extra incentive to hit the bar at the Modern American Santa Monica destination on weekends with the debut of a late night happy hour on Friday and Saturday nights from 9:00pm – 11:00pm. aestus reverse happy hour offerings include $4 pours of draft beer, $6 glasses of wine and well cocktails, $7 specialty cocktails from Bar Director Marissa Grasmick, and $5 classic bites that include mini pulled chicken sandwiches, grass-fed burgers, and grilled cheese.

8. Nature Connects at The South Coast Botanic Garden

Nature Connects features 27 unique, nature-inspired sculptures constructed with over half a million LEGO brick pieces with subjects ranging from a hummingbird to a goldfinch to a 6-ft tall Bison made from 45,000+ individual bricks. On exhibition at the South Coast Botanic Gardens from February 19 to May 8.

9. Club TUBTHUMP a Westside 90’s Party

Club TUBTHUMP is bringing the best of the ’90s to Santa Monica with the top rock, grunge and pop hits, along with costume contests, games, themed drink specials, photo booth and more. Hosted at V Lounge, dancers will be “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It” until “Closing Time.” The party will also feature 90’s-themed drink specials from 8:00pm – 10:00pm. Just remember no cover until 11:00pm.

Experience the magic of the Walt Disney Concert Hall and Gustavo Dudamel during his new series, Dudamel & Music From The Americas from February 25 – 28.

14. Reverse Regional Wine Hour at Pizza Romana

Guests can explore Pizza Romana and Owner Alex Palermo’s curated collection of regional Italian wines in the casual, neighborhood pizzeria’s unpretentious environment. 15. Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival

The annual Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival (February 18 – February 27) and competition celebrates indie films by screening a wide variety of critically acclaimed works. 16. The Unauthorized Musical Parody of The Devil Wears Prada

A favorite tale of a basic-to-fierce transformation of a fashion magazine assistant is retold in this hilarious musical. There will be plenty of cattiness, back-stabbing and of course makeover magic. 17. $20 Late Night Love Menu at Love & Salt

The South Bay gets a little extra love with Love & Salt’s Late Night Love menu available nightly at the bar and chef’s counter during the last hour of service. 20. The Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Show

21. Haunting Renditions with Eliot Glazer

Classically trained vocalist-turned-comedian and writer Eliot Glazer is bringing his hilarious live show Haunting Renditions with Eliot Glazer to UCB Sunset this Saturday. Eliot is joined by special guest appearances by Nicole Byer and Max Silvestri. The show is based on Eliot’s web series where he takes some of pop music’s most infamous songs and turns them into highbrow, sweeping ballads. Tickets for the show are $10.

22. SuperHero — Princess Academy: A Mini-Musical for Little Ones

Need to entertain the little guys and gals this weekend? Check out this one-hour mini-musical performed by the folks at the Creating Arts Company. The show includes singing, dancing, and plenty of audience interaction to keep the little ones engaged throughout. 23. Western Regional Quidditch Tournament at UCLA

Yes it’s the sport played at Hogwarts. Teams from Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah will compete for the opportunity to attend the national championship, the US Quidditch Cup. 25. Esotouric Bus Adventures: Boyle Heights & the San Gabriel Valley

Esotouric Bus Adventures hosts four-hour luxury coach tours and their twice-annual bus and walking tour “Boyle Heights & the San Gabriel Valley: The Hidden Histories of L.A.’s Melting Pot” is happening this Saturday. Tour includes fascinating stories about the two cities and stops that include Hollenbeck Park, Evergreen Cemetery (oldest in L.A. with 300,000 graves), The Venice Room (untouched 1950s Italian-themed bar where a patron can grill their own steak), Divine’s Furniture (oldest business in Monterey Park housed in a 1920s Japanese fruit market) and Wing Hop Fung (popular Chinese herb, tea and wine emporium) for a complementary tea tasting.

27. L.A. Zine Week Official Kick-Off Party

Dum Dum Zine Presents: L.A. Zine Week’s Official Kick-Off Party with music, DJ’s, a zine making table and readings by local artists to celebrate Zine Week. 29. The Ultimate Academy Awards Party at The Ace Hotel

30. The Vegan Chili Cook-off at Tony’s Darts Away

This year, the chefs are really bringing the heat to Burbank’s Tony’s Darts Away. Sample chili from five competing Chefs that include Michael Falso from The Springs and Mollie Engelhart from Sage. 31. Nicki Minaj, Fetty Wap, Meek Mill & More Headline The REAL Birthday Bash

Radio station Real 92.3 is celebrating its first anniversary by bringing the biggest names in hip-hop into the mix for a one night show at the Forum. The REAL Birthday Bash will be headlined by the one and only Nicki Minaj. Chart-topping rapper Big Sean, Fetty Wap, Meek Mill, Omarion and DJ Khaled are also on the bill. 35. Dine Out Long Beach Restaurant Week 2.0

36. Tom Everhart Exhibit Raw: Black and White Works From 1998 – 2016 Public Debut

Artist Tom Everhart, world renowned for his Charles Schulz influenced paintings and widely known for his color pieces, will debut his first ever, rare Black & White exhibition called Raw: Black and White Works From 1998 – 2016. The exhibit will be showcased at Mouche Gallery in Beverly Hills beginning February 28, 2016 and will run through March 16.

37. Pasadena Comic Con & Toy Show
