Cool Spots in L.A.: Molly Malone’s on Fairfax Avenue

Halos-At-The-Snug

On a rainy Saturday night I decided to head out to The Snug, a music venue located inside of Irish pub Molly Malone’s. Apparently I wasn’t the only one, the bar was packed with a mix of locals, musicians and friendly people out to have a good time.

The establishment has been operated by the same Irish family for 43 years and over that time the musical acts have evolved, from Irish troubadours performing drinking songs to original music performed by crooning frontmen. On this particular night, local favorite Halos were there to play new songs off their EP The Renegade.

The music venue is sectioned off from the restaurant/bar area. A sizable room for intimate performances with plenty of standing and sitting room. The night breeze by with a stress free atmosphere. I ate well, drank heavily and didn’t go home broke. Yes! there is such a thing here in L.A. Who knew?

So Why Molly Malones?

Piping hot fish n’ chips, mouth watering cheese burgers  and “grown up” drinks (no light pours).

L.A. Times called Molly Malones “Home of the Irish Coffee.”

The service is quick, friendly and attentive.

Music acts don’t resemble amateur hour at an open mic night.

The crowd was laid back and easy to start conversations with, a rarity in an area with such close proximity to Hollywood.

Quick Notes
