Yes, we’re talking about National Grilled Cheese Day.

1. Tom’s Urban at L.A. Live (Downtown Los Angeles)

The comfort food favorite get’s an indulging make over with the Grilled Fig Jam & 3 Cheese sandwich featuring a blend of fontina, brie, and havarti cheeses on butter-toasted sourdough. For bacon lovers, upgrade to the “Figgy Piggy” complete with fontina, brie, havarti AND applewood smoked bacon on butter-toasted sourdough.

This Hollywood coffee and eatery takes an avant-garde approach on the classic grilled cheese by using English cheddar, Asian pear and Namasu pickles.

3. Bruxie (Santa Monica)

Bruxie will be serving grilled cheese favorites on a waffle. Keep it classic with The Cheesy Bruxie made with melted California cheddar and Austrian Gruyere cheese. They also have pastrami gruyere, Oregon pole-caught albacore tuna melt and roasted crimini mushroom goat cheese waffle sandwiches if you want more than just cheese.

4. Knuckle & Claw (Silver Lake)

The Silver Lake spot known for their lobster rolls have created a seafood stuffed grilled cheese in honor of NGCD. For one day only take a bite out of Big Bertha, a gargantuan version of their classic Knuckle Sandwich – stuffed with lobster, shrimp, blue crab, and Cotswold Cheddar.

5. Grilled Cheese Truck (Various)

Grab your grilled cheese on the go from The Grilled Cheese Truck (find their schedule here). Order from the “Plain and Simple” menu or get go wild with something like The Cheesy Mac and Rib made with short rib and mac n cheese, there’s even a sweet melt made of double cream brie, sliced pears, fresh Thyme and toasted almonds drizzled with wildflower honey on cranberry walnut bread.

6. Haché LA (Silver Lake)

Haché LA will have a new ‘Secret Menu’ item, the Haché Grilled Cheese made with cheddar cheese, fresh avocado and tomato grilled to a golden crisp.

7. Greenspan’s Grilled Cheese (Fairfax District)

An artisanal spin on grilled cheese with choice ingredients make up the bones of Chef Eric Greenspan’s beloved eatery. Order one of seven sandwiches or opt to build your own by choosing the bread, cheese, veggies, meats and sweet items (marshmallow grilled cheese anyone?). If you can’t decide a safe bet would be the most famous sandwich aptly named “The Champ” made with raisin walnut bread, taleggio, beef short ribs, apricot caper puree and dried tomato.
