$5 Breakfast Bowls at RiceBar

The Filipino spot is now serving build your own breakfast bowls for just $5 reports LA Weekly. If you really want to go all out for an extra $2 you can make it an all you can eat experience.

Chocolate and Art Show

The Chocolate and Art Show returns to Los Angeles August 19-20 promising live body painting, live music, face-painting, and free chocolate fondue. It’s a pretty popular event you might want to get tickets asap.

Avocado Festival at Angel City Brewery

On August 14 celebrate the release of Angel City’s Avocado Ale with a festival soley dedicated to the green fruit that Californian loves. There will be food, beers and even a art exhibit on the avocado.

Revolutionario Hosts Cooking Classes Every Saturday in August

Learn to cook like Chef Farid Zadi every Satruday at his North African eatery. The demo cost $35 and the focus is on cooking vegetables. More information here.

In Sad BBQ News…

JNJ Burger Shack a long time establishment on West Adams known for their rib tips has lost their pit-master Jay Nelson Jr. recently passed away and the family now plans to close the stand indefinitely. Not sure what the time line looks like but for now the stand is closed with people leaving flowers, notes and such around the premises for Jay.

Doggy Happy Hour is a thing!

If you are looking for a way to celebrate National Dog Day this August 26 head over to La Bohéme in West Hollywood they just launched a special Yappy Hour for dogs on their patio every Sunday from 5 p.m. to close. Items are $5 and include Penne with smoked ham and parmigiano; steamed rice and veggies; meatballs and carrots; chicken and mashed potatoes – served without salt, onions, garlic and at room temperature. Again the food menu is dedicated to your four legged friend but you can enjoy a human happy hour also from 5 p.m. to close on Sundays too 😉

James Beard Dinner Party

An exclusive dining event benefiting the James Beard Foundation with Scott Conant at the Vibiana will take place September 23, 2016. Tickets start at $275.

Meatless Mondays at Scratch|Bar & Kitchen 

Scratch|Bar & Kitchen is introducing a summer meatless Monday tasting menu alongside a new summer tasting menu. They have also changed their hours of operation to lunch Monday – Friday noon to 2 p.m. and dinner Monday – Sunday 5 to 10 p.m.

Allaire Oyster Hour at Nic’s Beverly Hills

Nic’s Beverly Hills just launched a “Allaire Oyster Hour“ happening every Monday with complimentary oyster shooters with every week featuring a new shooter. Enjoy this promotion through August 29 (6-8 p.m.) while supplies last.

Plan Check Downtown Celebrates CicLAvia

E.P. & L.P. recently launched a weekend brunch menu featuring a breakfast sandwich named the B.A.E., a toasted bagel with avocado, hard boiled egg, chili jam, and cilantro with the option to add bacon or chicken sausage.

Eater LA editor Matthew Kang heads to Sun Ha Jang a Korean BBQ restaurant centered around duck to create a Korean Paella. If you love duck you’ll want watch the video here.
